Re: 4g33/32 power
My A71,A72 workshop manual says 92 ps/6,300 rpm for the 4G33 which is around 90 bhp and my my 1977 workshop manual says a 4G32 GS motor puts out 110 PS/6,700 rpm

Re: 4g33/32 power
According to the manual the 32 had 100ps, which is about 98.6hp about 73.5kw

The workshop manual says:
4g33 is 69.6kw(92hp)@6300rpm and a torque of 122.6Nm(90.4ft.lbs)@4000rpm
4g32 is 74.6kw(100hp)@6300rpm and a torque of 137.3Nm(101.3ft.lbs)@4000rpm

Re: 4g33/32 power
30 years ago, most Aus sources quoted 76kW at 6300 rpm for the 4G32. I believe that the "industry approved' way to measure that power has changed, so it would be less today.

To put that into perspective, the GJ Scorpion manual puts the 2.6 at 104hp, or 78kw, at around 5500rpm

Thats pretty much the same as the 4G51 (1850) available in GC/GD everywhere but here. 105ps - 103.6hp - 77.25kw @ 6000rpmby webby » Tue Apr 13, 2010 10:17 pm

Re: 4g33/32 power
Well in the sigma specifications it has:
4g32 saturn making 60.2kW @5600rpm and a torque of 117.5Nm@3200rpm
4g52 astron making 70.1kW @5600rpm and a torque of 152.3Nm@2400rpm
4G54 astron making 76kW @4800rpm and a torque of 192.1Nm@2400rpm
showing a slight difference between the testing methods of the saturn engine

Woops' figure is the one I'm used to seeing for Sigma - note the difference in rpm between Sigma and Scorpion. 4800 vs 5500.woops wrote:4G54 astron making 76kW @4800rpm and a torque of 192.1Nm@2400rpm
I've read reports that Sigma has dished pistons / small chambers vs Scorpion has flat pistons / larger chambers. Are there any other differences which might explain the differences in figures?

Could also be some differences in emissions requirements too.woops wrote:showing a slight difference between the testing methods of the saturn engine

Re: 4g33/32 power
Ive allways been intrested in finding out the true power of a 4g32, one day ill put mine on a dyno and find out.
61kw at the wheels? Or at the motor?

Re: 4g33/32 power
61kW at the flywheel.
My GB had a 4G32 with 4G35S pistons, balanced bottom end, shaved & ported head, cam, extractors, exhaust & Weber, and dynoed 92hp at the wheels. That would teach RX3s & RX4s a lesson, and keep VNs / EAs honest.
A stock 4G32 wasn't putting 61kW to the road.

Re: 4g33/32 power
30 years ago the Gosford Dyno Tune Lancer rally cars were putting down between 118 and 120 HP ATW. These were 4G32s with C2 (narrow ringed) pistons,#5 cam,Twin 45mm Webers and some head work. This particular Dyno had a reputation as one of the most accurate Dynos in the country. The factory power ratings were mostly done on an engine dyno with no alternator or fan fitted,so the figures stated were mostly a bit inflated.
Re: 4g33/32 power
just wondering is the 4g51 (1850) rare at all? i no were there is one with low ks.....
My car: Colt/Galant AI standed. going AII GS speks!
Re: 4g33/32 power
They are fairly rare, we didn't get them in Galants here but they were available in GE Sigma's
Re: 4g33/32 power
The 1850 was the base Astron engine in GE Sigmas.colta51 wrote:just wondering is the 4g51 (1850) rare at all? i no were there is one with low ks.....
Re: 4g33/32 power
That sounds about right.I also had an LA lancer rally car in the late 70's and mine was similar spec: 1770cc,head work, twin 45 webers,#5 cam,re-graphed dizzy, works copy extractors and 2" exhaust. This made 127hp at the wheels at 8400rpm.It was an absolute rocket in it's day.Always regretted selling it so now 30yrs later I now have 2.pistorf wrote:30 years ago the Gosford Dyno Tune Lancer rally cars were putting down between 118 and 120 HP ATW.
