HELP! No oil pressure in assembled 4G32b

Hi everyone

I just replaced the front and rear oil seals in my engine. After re-assembly, I cranked the engine for up to 25 secs at a time to circulate the oil before connecting fuel and spark -- but no oil pressure, and the filter is empty. Clearly the oil pump isn't working. Does a trochoid pump need to be primed? I reassembled the pump with some oil on the surfaces and the marks facing into the case, as per the Gregory's manual, with a new rubber gasket. I also found a manual online that said the marks need to be aligned, but I couldn't see how that should be done, and it was after I finished assembly.

Any ideas? I will pull the oil pump tomorrow, but I'm not sure what else to do.

Cheers
Mick

BTW, I put a new gasket on the oil filler.

Sorry I meant a new gasket on the oil pickup tube.

It will be a priming issue. Take the spark plugs out and crank the motor over and it should prime its self.

I've had this problem in the past. Just cranking it over didn't work and I ended up killing a set of bearings. Now when i put an engine together I use an oil can to pump oil into the galleries, etc through the oil pressure sender hole. Once the galleries, pump and so on are full I put the sender back in and turn it over with no plugs. It usually gets pressure within a few seconds.

Thanks for the help. I did manage to solve it easily. I pulled the timing belt, put a drill on the oil pump sprocket nut, and cracked the oil filter a few mil. After about 30 seconds of spinning the oil pump shaft, there was oil aplenty coming out of the filter. Job done!! Car runs like a dream again! 8-)

When building Clevo's, always pull the dizzy out and run a socket down to the oil pump.
Get a drill onto the socket and extension and prime away.

Very important with a Clevo as they can have ordinary oil flow at the best of times.

I'd nearly do the same thing for all engines. Will push the oil around the engine without the crank and cam moving...
