Hi everyone, first time poster here.
I have a 85 L200 with a 4g63 motor, just wondering if a magna astron 2 is compatable with my box? Or the 6g72 ? Or is a Dohc head efi going to be the best bet for some more power?

Cheers

Welcome aboard

For simplicity reasons, a DOHC '63 will be your best option

DOHC head from a VR4 Galant or Evo 1-3, Link G4+ aftermarket ecu, custom exhaust and away you go.
Wouldn't even have to remove the engine from the car

Or you could boost the motor/head combo you have and make make twice the power. SOHC turbo parts are common and will be cheap if you take your time. Twin cam IMO is not needed when a single can do 200kwatw. More than I would recommend for your gearbox. ;)

Great info guys. As far as low compression if i kept the 8V head and turbo it. 2x copper head gaskets? I know my way around a motor but im lost when it comes to turbo stuff.

U me both....... But I not confident with the sealing if two gaskets on top of each other......if u do more searching, ppl do sell specific decompression plates (basically metal shim to raise the head and drop the compression ratio)

But if ur only going to run low boost (5psi for eg), u may be able to get away decompressing the engine......it will all depend on ur starting Cr Nd how much boost u intend in running

5-10psi will liven up the car heaps and should be fine as is. You should not even need to lift the head at all. You will need to run 98 fuel however. Power wise you should see 120-140rwkw. Almost twice what you have now.

PS Don't be in a hurry to start. Plan every step of the build before hand. If your not sure ask!

Owww and have fun. :D
