Hi there!Sorry if it is answered elsewhere but i am messed up a little bit...
In the following weeks we will start my 1978 GSR replica built.Just to have an idea along what my mechanic will say,which carbs are the best alternative to the Mikuni-Solex from Weber for the 4g32 for rallying purposes?40DCOE,45? Downdraft or sidedraft?Thanks in advance!

Twin sidedrafts for performance wise is best. I personally think without fairly heavy mods 2x 45s would be too much for a little 1.6, i would be more inclined at a couple of 35s as a personal preference. If youre throwing in a cam, and other supporting mods 40s will tune well with it.
I would personally rate dellorto as the best sidedraft, followed by weber. Nothing can beat that italian craftsmanship imo. But again, personal preference.

Jetting for modified 1600 Pinto on 40s
34mm chokes
140 main jets
F16 emulsions
190 air correctors
40 pump jets
40/f9 idle jets
4.5 aux vents

Going by Ford 1600 jetting sizes, I would suggest the 40mm webers as a base, because it looks like you'd need something similar to the Ford motor 34mm chokes.

But tuning will cost $$
Get your engine sorted first, then add carb(s)

There's also the option of twin Aisan HF40Ds (but hard to find parts) or equivalent SU

Guys,thank you so much for your advice.The engine will go under full N/A tuning,cam,pistons,compression etc. at least this is what i know ...theoritically.Will try to keep it reliable though cause i am just a rally enthusiast, not a pro that i will have raliart on me .

Balance it
Don't go too strong on the valve springs - these heads are getting rare.
