Oil pressure help

Post by bundo »

Ok, long story,
I changed the rockers on my 4G52 motor, motor is in good condition.

Put is all back together did not work so went back to old rockers,

The car started, ran but very noisy. Chain noise.
Oil pressure light did not go out, only ran about 5 seconds. Still no oil preassure.
I took out the oil preassure switch started the car and no oil? But did notice oil coming up to the rockers, still chain noise.

Pulled the motor out,, sump off, front cover off, oil pump/ balance shaft chain loose, adjusted that.
I noticed the timing chain Tensior had not self adjusted, cave it a tap and presto, came out adjusted perfect.

But why would there be no oil preassure?

Did I just not give it enough time to prime after having the rocker gear off?

Any help would be great,

5 seconds should have been enough if the engine was primed.
What I would do is remove the spark plugs, disconnect the coil and wind over the motor until the oil pressure light goes out. The pressure switch is set very low, somewhere around 3-5 psi, so just cranking the engine will turn it off, as long as there are no other issues.

Cheers.
