Missed a golden opportunity recently to adjust the balance shaft chain while I was replacing the water pump and fan clutch.
So my question is..has anyone successfully managed to adjust the balance shaft chain without removing the fan and waterpump. I really don't want to have to pull all of that shit out again just to adjust the chain.

Should have added that with a factory turbo and aftermarket air filter , there is only limited space to access the adjustment bolt cover.
I am thinking the easiest way is to remove the grill and radiator and go straight in from the front.
