answer is dependant on the bottom end more than the head

U using an Astron I or II block?
Std or O/S (or modified) pistons
are u running the std crank?

2.5-3mm is the maximum you can take off a M6 to M9 magna head.

The kidney shaped M8 or M9 head have a smaller combustion chamber, so would be a good place to start.

A good idea is to also deck the block, so the pistons are 0.25mm above the deck height. This improves the "squish" zone, which helps reduce detonation.

If you remove a lot from the head, you would need to space out the hydraulic tensioner AND probably need an adjustable cam gear, to get the valve timing correct.

Cheers.
