Electronic Ignition

Post by Belial »

Hi All,

Quick question.

Who has used what to change over to electronic ignition?

I'm thinking about getting a Pertronix set up from the US as I have used them before on a different car/engine and they are quick to install and work very well.

Cheers,
Mark

What are you wanting to achieve?
MegaJolt is a good "Ignition Only" unit, but if you are looking for a complete EFI solution, MicroSquirt is a viable solution, if you can programme it.

Cheers.

Just got Mini Mopar back from a workshop as it was in for a RWC.

Seriously want to hurry up and convert to electric ignition.

I'm soo over searching the web and here to get ideas.

Other than the Pertronix set up which I have found BUT need to get it in from the US, I see the Crane Cams XRi isn't compatible (Same as Pertronix)
There is the XR700 which will run an ignition box (Not that it concerns me) and is available here in Oz.
Mallory make a conversion kit also, the "E Spark" BUT again, need to get it from the US.

So before I (probably) buy the Crane Cams Xr700.

What other options do I have?

Rip a dizzy out of a Magna or Triton?!?!
As this is where I have NFI, spending the last 10yrs or so playing with Cleveland V8's has left me oblivious to these engines...

For the sake of others searching down the track...

I went with the Pertonix Ignitor II. (Model #91943)
I also got the matching Flame Thrower II coil.

It all took less than half an hour to install and was the cheapest incl freight from JEGS in the US.
