4G3X No.5 cams?

Post by 75wagon »

I received a phone call from someone this afternoon from someone who has access to a No.5 Cam for a 4G32, and is thinking about getting replicas made for others.
The question is this, how many would be interested, and how much would you be prepared to pay?
They would be new cams, not face welded and reground old cams.

I will pass on those who may be interested in the finished product.

No it's not me who's looking at doing it.

I would be interested in at least one. And if money permits two as long as it can be adapted into a belt drive 4G37.

There wasn't enough interest when posted.
I assume the idea would now be put to bed.

Do we at least have the specs in case someone wants to use that grind on their own car?

I'm sure the specs would still give a '52, '54, '6X series engine some mumbo (assuming they are dialled in correctly)

Scorpma , theres nothing special about a no5 cam
Just people think there the fruit cause it a factory design cam
Places like crower can do better with current technology , cnc ports and so on
But no one wants to spend any coin

^That is the 100% truth^
Everyone says they want them, no one wants to pay for them.

I don't have the specs, but I do have a No.5 in my car (I wouldn't have a way to measure the specs).

This post started because a member contacted me about reproducing No.5 cams (he has one). He has access to all the right gear (as in knows someone who can make cams from scratch) and would have been prepared to pull the cam from his car, ship it interstate to get it done if there was enough interest (the more cams getting made, the cheaper each individual cam would become). As we can see, there isn't.
