Hey guys,

After a parts list for good 4g54 stuff (wiseco pistons listing, etc).

Don't care if they're US, JP, or anywhere else..

But! If all else fails... I may still sell the running gear to you..

No... Just a few things have come up... Looking at building a 2.6 properly... All new parts, all good parts. Strong enough to stand up to efi later on.

Hi Mick.
To better gauge what parts and work you will need, it's worth asking yourself the following questions (and posting the answers here :D ).

What HP,Torque, RPM and longevity you are you wanting to achieve from the engine, will better determine what parts you need.

Do you want it as a daily/dyno queen/track beast or a combo of them?

Magna EFI or aftermarket ECU?

Thinking of going turbo or keeping it N/A?

Are you wanting just bolt-on upgrades or are you prepared/able to get your hands a bit dirty?



All of these questions are important, BUT, the 2 most important questions are how much time are you wanting to spend, and how much money.

Having a clear goal to work towards helps dramatically.

Time and money isn't really an issue...

I might end up doing an efi turbo setup, but I'm more looking into just efi for now.. If I can use a stock ecu I will for now.

As for purposes.. Just a respectable daily that will see the odd lap or 2 :)

Something like this.

OS pistons
OS valves
Lightened/balanced bottom end
Machined rotating assembly
Roller gear up to
Efi setup with good fuel setup for future mods
Exhaust
Larger TB
Removal of balance shafts

All done with new seals/gaskets.

Something like that should be suffice I'd think? Might even ditch efi and get ya to build another quad carb setup :P :lol:

But that's the general idea :)

Not to hijack the thread...but where the fuck can one get 4g52 parts?! Specifically pistons? :(

Stock ECU = almost stock engine. :(

From what other people on the forum have posted in the past, even changing the cam will upset the ECU. That being said, std carb is around 85kw at the flywheel, as opposed to 100kw at the flywheel for std EFI.

That is a noticeable difference, and a good starting point.
Lighter flywheel and silent shaft delete won't affect the ECU at all but it will give you better acceleration off the mark and through 1st to 3rd gears.

84mm diameter, 40mm compression height and 22mm gudgeon.

Grab a piston catalog and start looking.. :D

Just to keep every thing clear, RaptorReed is talking about the 2.0l 4g52 Astron, not the 2.6L 4g54 Astron...

CAUTION: options listed below will need to be verified.

Using the Toyota 21R pistons (6mm higher than standard), and chamfering the top 5mm, you now have a high comp engine. This will depend on how low the top ring grove is.

The Isuzu 4ZB1 piston is 3.5mm shorter than std, so using the Ford 5.4L rods (3.1mm longer than std) and decking the block to suit, you have a nice 2.0L engine.
Alternatively, using a 2.6L crank, std rods and possibly machining a bit off the top of the piston, you now have a 2.2L engine.

The evo pistons are 5mm shorter than standard, but using the 2.6L crank and decking the block 1mm, you now have a 2.2L engine.
Alternatively, Using the EVO pistons and Ford 5.4L rods on the 2.0Lcrank, the block would need to be decked 2mm.
2nd alternative would be EVO pistons, ford 5.4L rods, 2.6L crank and machine the top of the pistons to suit. (best option IMHO).

Lots of options.. :D
