Help. How to back off the timing chain on a 4g52

Post by bundo »

Hi,
I am wanting to change a cam on a 4g52.

How do you back off the chain tensioner?

Any help would be good.

if you undo the big bolt at the front of the dizzy drive gear ( 22 AF socket from memory ) the gear pulls off and should sit on a sheet metal sadle
then you can drop the cam out
just do the reverse on assemble there is enough give in the chain tentioner to lift the gear back onto the cam

That is ridicules, 30 minutes from asking the question, I have been down to the shed.
Found the tensioner, backed it off. Pulled the cam out. Put the new one in with the right grease.
Everything is back in but just finger tight until the morning when I nip it all up and set the rockers.

That would be about 4 hours with the old Mazda.

Happy days.

Thanks Cheater.
