32 mm Garrett wastegates

Post by Paddles »

just a couple of questions, been researching these a little bit, mainly for a stiffer spring for more boost, got hold of garret today and they only ever built 2 types of springs for these one was 5 pound and one was 9 pound but on an original wastegate it has marked on the mod plate 10 psi???

any ideas? basically im chasing a stiffer spring for more boost besides stock. cant bleed it any further.

also was going through one of my spare waste gates i have and found that the nut holding the diaphram was done all the way up but there was a gap between the nut and the washer, was wondering if i should put a couple more washers in or should it be like this??

im just spearking from when i rebuilt my sigma turbo wastgate the parts are hard to come by lucky i managed to find a new diaphram however other bits are rare.
you might be better off just buying an aftermarket gate man

that brings about another question. is there a direct bolt on waste gate you can buy for an original turbo manifold?

i do have 2 spare working waste gates. plus the ones on my cars. just sussing out all the options.

How have you got your bleed setup?

I manage to run 32psi and still use the standard 32mm gate and 9 psi spring. With that much boost, I doubt much even runs through the gate

i have the line running from the intake straight to the wastegate with a bleed valve in between. i have 2 bleed valves and both are the same reading. i cant get anymore than 17 pound from my gates.

Which port do you have the fitting on, the one at the side or the one on the top of the wastegate?

What size hose/fittings? Is it a turbosmart or something?

the line is running to the one in the side of the wastegate. not the hole is the base of the wastegate where the air releases. im running 1/4 inch house. one controller is a turbo smart and the other is a ebay one that became the bees knees.
