2.6 astron oil capacity

Post by Chris84gsr »

been searching the forums and cant find threads on things like this, i dont have a workshop manual so just asking on here, i got myself 5L of oil and an oil filter, but before i start i need to know how much the engine likes to hold, thanks.

and i think ive decided on an xf carby and an adaptor plate for an easy upgrade, going to wreckers in the next few weeks, anyone know an accelerator cable that i should look out for because i dont want my car of the road too long while im mucking around with the carby

in my research i found :
Oil capacity with filter on a 4g54 is 1.32 US Gallons, thats 4.99674355 liters.
so if i dump my 5L of oil into it i should be safe? :D

Seems a lot to me, I would have guessed 3.5 with out filter and maybe 4 - 4.2 with filter

lol... just reminded me of how the only difference between the 245/265 for cars and for trucks is the truck motors hold 10 litres of oil....

greg says astron engine: 4.3l with filter, 3.4 without...
saturn:4l with, 3.4 without

cheers,
rob

sure, why not... frothing is fun... not!!! too much oil is bad... especially if its so high the crank whips it up like cream

Saturn = series of engine ( just ike your 2.6 is an Astron  )

as astron 2.6, what ever model, takes 4.6 litres or 4.1 without filter.

use the early xe or xd webber as it is better than the xf one if you run a single webber you can use ur original cable im running twin xd webbers on mine and if your running a strock motor it will be to big for it unless you can find small enough jets
