Lancer Badge

Post by DanTurboLancer »

Hey guys i have the original Bonnet badge here and was wanting to give it a touch up.
Can anyone give me a description of the colours used?

Like was the Mitsubishi Symbol painted Red, or was it just as it is?
Was the outside colour white? and was it paint or some kind of Goo??
Was the shield painted at all or just as is?
Does anyone know if you can buy these new (not holding my breath lol)

Ok, simple enough...this is a picture of a top quality one (never giving it away, so don't ask).
There is only one paint colour on the badge...and it's white over the flat parts of the shield. (around the head and hoof of the horse).
I have no idea how to restore the red plastic around the shield...Is there any red setting epoxy's or even a dye that can be mixed into an epoxy so it sets as a red seethrough colour? Would love to know, I want to restore a few of these badges myself.

They are enameled and restoration is an expensive art . See http://enamel-auto-badge-repair.com/ena ... ocess.html

Careful work with enamel modellimg paint will get a reasonable result, albeit a much less durable result, at much less cost.

Third that!

It is most definitely a plastic badge, and therefore not suitable for any sort of heat treatment.

Also, plastic paints are quite capable of lasting a long time, so long as a good finishing product is used too. Admittedly, not quite as good as new, but with some work it could easy become indistinguishable from the original.
