strut tops

Post by DanTurboLancer »

Hey guys just a question about LA LB and possibly LC strut tops with the 4 bolt configuration.

Does anyone know if we can buy new replacements for them?

And has anyone replaced the bearings in theirs themselves?

I have two sets and all bearings are no good, almost seized.
I tried to press them out but the underde of the bearing retainer has a rolled lip that won't let it come out??

Maybe shuggy can help here?
I ended up getting a set of 3 bolt strut tops off shuggy, he has a contact in Malaysia he was getting parts off I don't know if he still is?
The 3 bolt tops are available new in Malaysia (or were), you may be in luck and they may have 4 bolt ones as well?

Hmm ill have to look into the. Kmac if they are adjustable!

And perhaps the guys from Malaysia that are posting in the forsale section might be able to help others with new old stock items for the factory style ones.
Or yeah try Shuggy!

Thanks all!

I have actually seen a set of corolla or honda , cusco pillow ball adjustable tops redrilled to suit an LB race car , a lot better than Kmac or pedders

Ill post some pics up as soon as i get a chance.

But i just went to the Kmac website, easily found on google.
http://www.k-mac.com.au/

Searched by make, Mitsubishi (Obviously)

and found that most of the models we are interested can be found there.

As you will see on the site the starting price for Stage 1 is $370 + Postage

Stage 1 has Urethane centre, is adjustable for Camber and Castor, Is made of Steel.

Stage 2 Has Urethane, fully adjustable, is made of Alloy, uses a pillow ball centre bearing... $470 + Postage

Stage 3 No Urethane centre,

I called the number to talk to the rep.
Very easy to talk to, paid for it over the phone etc.
I chose the Stage 2 as it was alloy to make it slightly lighter, but mainly because the stage 2 allows you to replace the Bearing if needed, the stage 1 doesnt.

Got them on friday and then i got to have a close look at them, and i wasnt overly happy with them.
I actually rang them back on sat because they hadnt sent me what i ordered.

They sent me Stage 3 instead of stage 2, then told me they cant make me Stage 2.

As i am fitting Commadore front shocks i had asked them to do a one off and fit Bearings that would suit an Inside diameter to accept the 14mm Commadore shock top instead of the 15mm Lancer one.
They didnt do that for me either.

Their finished product and Quality control isnt very good either.

In short i will be sending them back and hopefully get a better set back as im not impressed so far.

And i tried tham against 75wagons LC lancer strut tops, and yes the 4 bolt pattern matches
