New addition to the Family

Post by DanTurboLancer »

Hey guys sorry this is prob the wrong spot to post this but thought you might enjoy

Here is my new 74 2 Door, I didnt build it, picked her up from a guy in Sydney that spent a small fortune on her....
Ive changed the wheels to my 17s off my 4 door and put 316 stainless Socket headed cap screws through the engine bay.
And just had to swap all my good rear end from the 4 door, Reset Leaves and new shocks into it, The Rubbers and Leaves were cactus.

It has 2 pac Purple (hated it at first but its grown on me) with 9 different coloured metal flakes through it.
Cream Leatherette interior (again abit flashy for me but its grown on me)
The 2.6L American Conquest Bottom, Magna Head, Seimen 750cc Injectors, Microtech LT8s, T3. and best of all its fully Engineered for everything!
It had a 4 point cage n when i bought it, and one day i might puts a cams approved job back in, but for now i took it out. Dont need to attract anymore unnecessary attention from the constables.
Best of all its all engineered!

Hope you like her....still a work in progress!

Nice interior, Gus did a good job on it.

It goes well with the 2L (cough cough)..

BTW: If you still have Gus's phone number, could you PM me please.

Cheers.

Its engineered as a 2L...
Yeah same motor but apparently its the American version a Conquest or Starquest what ever it is...

And yeah he showed me that mag too.
There were afew comments made in the mag that werent true, writers Lib i guess.

It was advertised for 12, ended up getting it for $9,500.

The paint is afew years old apparently, so it has afew scratches coming through, and some stone chips around the bonnet, but i have some extra paint for it, so i can get them touched up.

Even though it is Engineered for the 17s, as even Gus suggested, they are just too big, im going to go back to maybe 15s to get some more rubber thickness, the 17s are to rough and bouncey and any little bump pulls the car around.
--------------------------
Update - The Wheel size is fine, its just that the Suspension, and all steering joints are completely stuffed!
---------------------------
No rust, and he showed me pics of it from when it was stripped right back to bare shell.
Pretty straight.

Actually if anyone has a copy of that FF they want to part with id appreciate it, i didnt ask Gus for his, i think he wanted it as a keeps sake...

Still plenty of work ahead.....

oh yes man had it for afew weeks now,
I found in the 4 door shell the little Placard on the driver side inside engine bay panel that reads as an A72.

But as the 2 door has had abit of a custom/home paint job ;0)
It no longer has that same plate

I can let you know the numbers but... Hopefully that may help???

Would like to know too.

Serial No. LA1M21/E K 21 80450
and there is a small plate on the top of the drivers side strut top
(probably just tacked on as it doesnt look factory)
Reads as
LA1M21-00450

Man if that is anything or means anything would be great to find out.
If it means stuff all im stoked anyway.

Haha yeah ive never really been into painting a car, and yeah the purple is alittle gay,
But id been down the do it up for a cheap heap too many times.
Id built the silver 4 door up from a $500 stocko, and after all the work and money, the cops liked it on the road less than i did (Not engineered) so they cancelled the rego on me.
Then i started my apprenticeship and didnt have the money to do it all properly.
So after afew years sitting in the back yard and collecting cancer.
I looked at getting it all done properly and for Body work and paint alone done professionally (im not good with that stuff) it was going to be Over $10G
And then I would hae been happy with just bleck velour interior and some bucket seats.
But this is alittle different and abit of a step up,
and it had the computer and injection already set up
So i think yes at first abit of an outlay, but long term im actually infront,
Plus its a 2door!

Now just have to swap my good stuff over and spend some on the extras.
Still abit pissed about the stories this bloke told me but its all good, its a passion and a hobby and i can then say that i truely made it a good car...

I got a reminder phone call that it is agood mates 30th this weekend, so that means two bad things, One I have to goto Sydney, my least liked place
(no offence to anyone from Sydney, i just hate overcrowded places)
and 2nd i wont be able to get the car ready for Buladelah.
Pretty dissapointed but i wont be able to make it to another hillclimb, but it will come soon. Better off waiting to make sure everything is right before i go giving it the berries...
Still going up for a look abit later in the day and taking the video cam.
So im sure it will inspire me for the next one...

Mick I think you should give a hillclimb a try before you sell it!! :D

thanks mate, well looks like the head will be coming of to replace the gasket.
So that has blown the tune budget out.

After the crack test etc

I may aswell get them to look at some porting, and a thicker Gasket
to lower compression and allow me to pump in more FUN to try keep up with you in the top end :D

mate sorry to hear the news
now piss that jet vavle head off and get your self a m4 or m7
head and whack that on
i would suggest the m4 as there thicker through the deck good for
big boost and consider going to 14mm head studs that way you can stick
32psi in
just a thought

I would absolutely love to do that Stealth but unfortunately the old budget has dried up atm

Ill just have to stick with what i have and plug away for another little while till i can save some.

Just out of interest, would i have to change Exhaust and Inlet Manifolds to swap in the M4/M7 head?

If not it may actually be cheaper to do that...

And not being too Mitsu savvy, what year model Fagna would the M4 or M7 head come on?
Because there is a dumped one down the road ive had my eye on...

mate the exhaust is the same and give us a clear pic at your inlet and
ill tell you what it is but should be the same
m4 injected tn shagna
m7 tr shagna
there you go you should be able to pick up a head for $50/250 max
so it shouldnt cost you to much ,theres no need to port now as it will
flow conciderably better (jet vavles suck bad)
so hope this helps

Is this the TN Gagna??

Image

and here are some very ordinary shots of the inlet manifold, it was hard to get a decent shot with all that crappy wiring every where (another job for later)

So i hope this is of any help in being able to tell if the same as M4...

Also just looking at the photos, i can see a hose and some fittings that seem to link the back of the Inlet Manifold to the front, is this the Water bypass pipe you guys were talking about in another thread to deal with Hot spots in the cooling system??

righto dan
the magna in the pic is a tr/ts and will most likely have a m7
head on it
your car ,nice strut brace, you head is a astron 2 inlet pattern :D
the "bypass line you got there is what we are talking about but yours
is to small by the look of that it needs to be at least 16mm / 5/8",.625"
minimum
so get a aussie head and go nuts
