You could shave a few more grams off it by removing the defect label

If you want a few ideas on weight reduction.....ask the guys in the 2Litre Sports Sedan racing catergory.

They have a weight limit of under 800kg.

If it wasn't for the all the glass in these things, they would make a great track whip... that rear windscreen would be a pig to fabricate out of lexan :|

yeah im hoping i can get mine below 1000kg with 4g63 engine but will be a struggle. Ditching the glass is not an option as i wish to keep it street driven- so basic plan is fiberglass trunk lid and bonnet, no rear seats, recaro fishnets, no sound proofing, no carpets, no AC/heater system (will run lightweight heater), lightweight wheels etc.

Currently my vehicle is just over 1200kg in full factory trim (4 wheel disks, live rear axle, 4g54, auto box)

I think it will be cool to turn up with something a little different to all the 86 levins that are kicking around.

The weight difference would be negligible between the 4G54 and a SOHC 4G63(the '63 would be marginally lighter due to less metal on the head, belt drive, plastic timing cover) but the 4G63 in DOHC configuration would weigh more (extra cam, more valvetrain components) The trick is getting it set up for a RWD application...

Howdy geezer,

Wasn't planing on using the '63 as i prefer the toquey '54, was just curious for more racing applications, dry weight, weight distribution for handling...that sort of thing....i'd like to build a lil toy drag car as light (and as powerful) as possible.....see how low we can get the sigma down too.....i reckon with enough weight reduction...you could get the sigma down to about 700kg's (minus driver)
