1979 Scorpion on gumtree HEADS UP!!!FALSE ADVERTISING

So i went to have a look at a scorpion tonight after seeing it on gumtree.............

From the pics the car looks alright, so i went there with a car trailer ready to go after work (big mistake, have bought many cars and always looked at them first but was too keen on this thing) The car is full of rust, engine doesnt run and they dont know why (he said it uses a lot of oil so my guess is its done a bearing)

Bad points:
Drivers door full of rust along the bottom
Passengers side roof pillar is rusted out pretty bad(structural defect)
Interior is completely thrashed out
Rust under the rear window on the hatch(screen out and weld job to repair)
Bonnet is rusted out in corner and the whole way along the front
Front tires are scrubbed out on the inside (tie-rods and just about all front end bushes are long gone, car looks like its been on the beach for a while as most rubber has perished)
Couldnt have a look at the engine as the cable broke when the guy tried to open it(hilarious)
Drivers door hinge is knackered just about fell off in my hand when i opened it(couldnt close it)

So after all this and more that myself and a mate found wrong with it we decided it definately wasnt worth $650, so i offered him $400-$450. He said the lowest hes going is $600. The only things on the car that may be half descent and worth any money is the 5 speed, diff and maybe the factory wheels. However the car doesnt run so theres no way of really checking the diff and the gearbox out.

This just really pissed me off as to how someone can say "yeah mate ill hang onto it for ya shes in good nick ready to roll onto ya car trailer tomorrow" and apparently theres plenty of other people that have offered $600 for it for a track car??? I reckon it would just about snap in half around the track as it looks like its lived on the beach.

All in all it aint worth $650, so to anyone else considering to look at use caution as he wont take a lower price and just wants to waste your time with the fake ad saying its in good condition, if its a fair drive for you to have a look at it(dont waste the petrol in your tank)

I have sent him an email asking for pics of the engine bay, inside the boot and the interior, just because I like poking things with a stick, lol

haha A112H ya should say to him "i heard you broke the cable trying to pop the bonnet for a bloke who came to look at it, he informs me the rust holes along the bonnet will be sufficient to pop the latch to get a picture for me"

@ metry, i offered $350-$400 and he dropped from 650 to 600 lol

I actually think that thing has done a lap of the block, there is no way door trim, seats, dash and paint gets that bad with only 126,000k's on the clock.
