Scorpion colour question
Scorpion colour question
Hi Guys,
Looking for some colour help please.
So I am working on an 1982 Scorpion for my son and have come to the stage of nearly ready to paint. Took the paint code (WJ -polar white) into the local and got 4 litres of acrylic (Protec). Have done some initial edges etc and found the colour to appear a little different to what is on the car - looks almost a greenish-cream instead of more white-white. See contrast on front corner of guard and bonnet.
Thought someone might have a polar white car and know if this is what the colour should look like? (Car has been repainted previously)
Thanks,
Col.

Re: Scorpion colour question
My Wagon is Polar white. A couple of times I have bought spray cans in Polar white and they are slightly different to the colour of the wagon..and each can is different to the other can.

Re: Scorpion colour question
I've noticed that, despite being the same code (and even blend/mix), different paint brands will have a different variation of the same colour......Also, the way the paint is sprayed and dried will change the final result

Re: Scorpion colour question
The colour of the undercoat/primer will effect it too. A light undercoat will result in a lighter final colour then if you use a dark undercoat.
Re: Scorpion colour question
Thanks for the replies.
Have decided to go with the paint I have. Although a little different to what is on this car and also a spare parts car (also Polar white and different again), the colour isn't bad.
I sanded some of the new paint back with 1200 wet and dry and the colour looked a little more whiter rather than cream.
Besides, the wife says she likes it rather than a stark white-white and reckons it has character, and also besides the whole car will be the same colour - so what is the problem? Guess it all makes sense....
Back to masking up.

Re: Scorpion colour question
Well the painting is finished, colour has finished up definitely more cream than white, but it looks OK.
Some colour sanding has brought out a little more white.
Onto more sanding and buffing.....

Re: Scorpion colour question
At last it is finished. Lots of little things that take up lots of big time. Colour looks OK.
The hardest thing - fitting the side protection strips and getting them level.
Next is a roadworthy cert. Should be fun.
