GA/GB vs GC/GD doors and fenders

Post by E39A4G63 »

I have a GD which im restoring and all the body panels are pretty much in craptastic condition.
I have a lead on some GB doors and fenders and im wondering if they are compatible with the GD. I would hazard a guess and say they are different. But its best to inquire here first.

I did run a few search strings but did not find the info.

Any help would be much appreciated

nah mate, they wont fit. 1st gens (ga/b's) are shorter in the front than the 2nd gens (gc/d's). doors, i'm pretty sure wont fit either, cant remember if it's an entirely different shape, or if its the a pillar angle and the guards dont match up? but i'm sure they wont fit.

cheers,
Mick :)

Front doors would be if you removed the top frames and window glass, back doors not at all, front guards not at all.

I have a full set of GC/D sedan doors, and a second pair of rears. I do not have any front guards for sale atm (I need to work out what panels I am using on my project, and then what I need to keep for spares).

This is the link with the stuff for sale. Are you located anywhere near Newcastle area?

Tim you obviously havent been to facebook in a while ;-) ive tagged u in a pic. Picked up.a mint GC. she needs paint though. Uncracked Dash. 4sp Manual. None ripped seats too ;-)

Took it home yesterday. . A Genuine one owner car with service manuals ect ect. Got the Genuine Chrysler mudflaps too still... the body is Sanded back a bit to paint. Doors are stripped off of the door cards and glass.

So im gonna fix that instead of the GD.

Went to pick it up. Put the bumpers and taillights and grill on temporarily and drove it home with a permit. She hit 110km on the freeway pretty easily.. :-)

And thanx Mick. Wont be needing that info now since ive got the GC. Her dooors and fenders are in great nick

tidy looking start you have there mate. looks like you're in need of some chrome strips. are you keeping it original or modifying it?

cheers :)

Much much tidier than the GD i started with...

Im gonna restore it first and then put a 2.6 in it..

Chrome stuff is all there.. they were all taken off by the prev owner for repainting. Even the door cards were taken off. Rear quarters and parts of the fenders are in primer still... cant see in that pic though.

Even the original AM radio is working :-)

Came with a spare Grille too :-) original grill has a broken tab.

So painting. Then RWC. then rego... then the 2.6...
