LA lancer engine crossmember in galant?

hey guys just been thinking about suspension setups. been wondering if a lancer crossmember would bolt up to a galant? I was wondering this because i would like to use sigma lwr control arms to get extra camber with adjustable ccamber bolts. and to hold the lwr control arms from moving forwards and backwards maybe incorperating a escort or 323 adjustable swaybar to adjust castor(obviously drilling and strenghining the arms where the sway bar goes through) What are peoples thoughts?

You could just use a late model sigma cross member, i think one of the two holes line up...

Using sigma gear in galant will give camber because the tops will be further in, might give a bit too much though...

It sort of unchartered territory, something ive wanted to do but its a no no for Improved production rules.

I have almost that setup in my gc coupe and works perfect. Heres my list.

LC crossmember, had to just elongate two of the holes (easy) and the width is perfect.(I've got a feeling that LA ones line straight up but I couldn't find one so you maybe lucky). Sigma crossmembers don't fit real well, too wide, and engine mounting brackets are different (too high). When I mounted the crossmember and redrilled the holes I brought it forward on the holes, everything just lined up better that way.

Started out with adjustable lancer lower control arms but broke one in an accident and had no spares, so then grabbed sigma ones and they were exactly the same length as my adjustables. I have about 1.7degrees neg, which works perfect in the forest.

Sigma radius rods and mounts. You'll notice two holes in the lower part of the radiator support, these line straight up with sigma mounts, then I drilled the rail to accept the side bolts and welded in some crush tubes, bulletproof. I also gusseted between the rail and radiator support but for a road car probably not needed. The only other thing is when fitting the radius rods the holes wont quite line up in the lower control arm, so just stick it in the vise and bend it a tad till they line up.

GH sigma struts bolt straight up to everything and accept commodore inserts which are awesome.

And I used a galant sway bar and mounted it with some nolathane threaded ball joints and just bolted it to the arms. I'm sure a sigma one will work if you want a heavier one.

Mine works great and heaps better than the old A arms.

Mark...

Forgot to say that with the sigma radius rods you've got fully adjustable caster aswell..

Sorry mate been away a while

VB to VP inserts fit, their all the same part number. And you can get lowered variants aswell I think.

Hey Mark, you just saved me a heap of work for my GC rally car, thanks! 8-)
It already has adjustable strut tops and adjustable, custom Bilstein legs so I might have to play around with it a bit for the correct Camber, but no big deal really.
I was about to do the cut-and-shut on a Sigma crossmember but this will be SOOO much easier. It should have been obvious I guess when you stop and think about it but when I think of Lancer stuff, I tend to think of LA's, which won't work of course.

I reckon there will be a few here who will benefit from this but a big thanks from me for sharing, nice work. :D

Cheers, S

That'd be great, if it's not too much of a hassle.

Yep another off the shelf part that I can just replace if it breaks...no special mods!

Their just sigma ones. Any top that has the three bolts should fit, eg galant sigma scorpion. Lancer ones have four bolts as do some other models, which wont go.

Thanks for the pics, how many scrutineers have picked it as non-standard? If you didn't know Galants, you'd figure it was 'factory' :D Nice work.
