hardtop, coupe, whatever lol
No they were never released here in Aus but there are some around. Probably like the GTO, not officially released but some peeps bought some special order or have since imported one second hand from NZ or something.
I've only ever seen the one, down Sydney inner south west suburbs. Even though it wasnt in the best condition, it still looked sweet as

Hardtop , Coupe whatever. The only one I can't take is when a hatch back is called a coupe. If the back window lifts up it is a hatch back, not a coupe.
Anyway, I think that the difference between a hardtop and a coupe is that all side windows wind down on a hardtop and only the door windows wind down on a coupe. I think of a coupe as more of a 2 door sedan.

Your best bet would NZ.
There's one on trade me, but it's an unfinished drag car.
There were a couple of quite good ones for sale on trade me a few months ago and if I remember correctly one was a GS.
I think the going price of one is probably around NZ $4000-$6000. They may have also so sold them in South Africa as well.
P.S. In NZ they're called a 16L.

I did see a GA version in Sydney during the '70s when I had my GA sedan.

They are Hardtops hence the "H" suffix in the model number. GTOs had a "C" suffix = coupe.

Then I guess Japan is your best bet, Though I guess it also depends on what car costs + transport costs = from NZ and Japan and also how frequent they come up for sale in each country. I would have thought it vwould have been cheaper from NZ. Oh well.

If I remember correctly the GS that was for sale in NZ was identical to the AII(GB) in the photos I posted.

Problem is you dont often see them for sale in Japan. NZ 16L's are easier to find but yeah, expensive to ship. Yank ones have the steering wheel on the wrong side but swapping to the right side shouldnt be too hard, depending on the type of dash. Get two I'll go you halves

ok back in 87 i had an Orange coloured gb 16l hadtop , in Sydney , the car was sold in 92 and reappeared in 98 , the tail lights look like savana rx3 but they are the factory mitsu lights , I bought it with twin headlight front with a GS grill , sold it with ga front end , it had xy falcon gt bonnet pins , disc brake diff, gt teardrop mirror ,simmons 2 piece rims ,1640cc with ported head, number 5 copy cam and a 4 barrel 465cfm holley, I have only two photos left of hundreds I took ,(think I gave all the build pics to new owner) the car lived in the northern suburbs last I heard , there was also a silver/blue one also around the same time in five dock , seen a few in NZ , the rest Ive seen that are still around in the USA usually end up as v8 powered drag cars !!

Stealth you will definately need to import if you wish to get your hands on one easily. I have been thinking about it for sometime but seeing as I imported a RX3 wagon from japan two years ago I have not recovered properly from that yet. Jap NZ USA or phillipienes (SP?) phil will have a good rust throughout and the squarer dash (which the GTO's had) would kill for one but I think I might be waiting for a while. speak to charlie (from USA) he might be able to help out.

Cheers

I've got one - the car in the photo (that's it's log book) - it's about to undergo a full restoration (starting at Christmas once the lancer is finsihed) and maybe have it on the road again. It's a GA 2 door and it's even rarer than an A73 2 Door - but if you had one of those I'd talk about selling!

cheers

I love those things! did they ever come out with the GA style of front end? I have seen some official pics of them that way, dont know what they are tho?

I dont like the USA dash and tail lights as much as the NZ(and japan?) style.

I own one, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3230619
but its been sitting in NZ for over 2 years waiting for me to get of my arse and pay for shipping!

Ok, so there were 5 GB coupe's (72 Dodge Colt) bought in to australia by Mitsubishi. 2 of them were unfortunatley cut up and they used some of the stuff/ideas in the making of the GC/GD coupe's. The remaining 3 were sold to the big knob's of Mitsi. One ended up in Sydney, another in Melbourne which was written off completely in an accident, the last stayed in South Australia.

ozgdgalants will know more about him, he said he would join the site, but I haven't seen him yet?
