my first car was a gd galant so im kinda biased in liking the gd more, even the taillights, I definitely like the twin headlights over the single. I didnt really like the gc taillights at the start but after owning a gc hardtop its grown on me a bit

GC is my favourite, I think the single head lights (although mine now has 6 lights across the front....eat my 660w of driving light power 8o| ).
The GC just seems to flow so nicely and yes the tail lights of the GC are definately the best.
Although I do have a 4 door i would very much like a 2door i think they look fantastic, however as many people have said.....GTO trumps all.

Cheers Matt
Hey, I own a Datto 1600 :$ might have upset some peeps but hey, not ban worthy

But you're right as far as I'm concerned, GTO does trump all

Most people seem to have strayed from the subject line "GB versus GD". This also discounts GA, GC, GE etc and all models not sold in Australia.

I've owned 5 Galants, a GA (nice) I bought new in '72 and owned for 8 years, a 9 year old GB sedan (nice) which I owned for a further 9 years, a GC sedan (unhappy front trying to look like a VJ) very briefly, and more recently 2 GC hardtops (nice).

Sticking with the subject line, I would have to say I prefer "GB sedan" over "GD hardtop".....just.

When set up properly GB sedans are very well balanced, not overweight and a bunch of fun to drive. They also look nicely proportioned................Never were many GC/GD rally cars.........

But overall, a couple of GTOs would do nicely thanks.

Dave,
Thanks for pointing that out.

Maybe the subject line should be re-worded to "GA/GB versus GC/GD" which still discounts non locally sold models.......or does it?

Slight revision here... If they are to be in original unmodified form, GB sedan for driving enjoyment, GC hardtop for cool.

Isn't the question what's the coolest? Not what is the most successful rally car?

It's time to don the flame suit I think, but I'm going there anyway.

I don't necessarily associate rally cars with coolness.
A cool car is something you go cruzing in. Not belting through mud, trees and dirt full pelt.
To me a rally car is more of a beaten up old banger (unless you drive for a fully sponsored team in modern kit and are competing for the WRC)
I wouldn't treat my car like that...

I used to loved the GDs but after spending so much time with the gc my opinions changed. I prefer the gc over all the other galants.

I think I have a little soft spot for the wagons tho.

thanks,

I don't think it matters which one you like better.
I think the thing that makes the difference is what you spend more time with.

I spent a couple of months respraying a front drive RA Mitsubishi Colt for my brother in law. At the end of it I found that I thought that they had a good shape and I really liked them.
When I did up my GB I preferred them. When I did up my GC wagon I preferred it. Now I have a GD sedan and I'm starting to look at them differently now too.

So what does that mean in the end???

I have a gc hardtop but still like the gd and a lot people here hate the gd taillights but (flame suit on) i actually like them and at one stage i had a set of gd taillights and garnish and was going to try and fit them to my gc until i found out the hole in my gc was too big and didnt want to go into modifying the rear panel

Gc has the valiant type cool looking front end like a VJ valiant/charger combined with the japanese RX3 style tailights...the best mix of aussie/jap style.

GD's are too japanese looking for my tastes.
