Is there different types of diffs that GCs had as i got axles from a GC and the sealer bearing is way to big for my diff and then today i noticed that when i tried to put the right sealer bearing on the axle is alot thicker so is there a few types of diff and axles that went into the GC ?

I think the wagons and sedans were different.......the Hardtop might have a slightly digger/stronger rear end since it was a 'sports' orientated car

The dedicated Galant enthusiast could help you out more than me....

As far as I am aware there were only two types. Both 8 bolt centres but had two different size bearings and axles.
The Australian sedan and hardtop had the thinner axles and the wagon got the thicker (Same centre as used in GE Scorpion and early Sigmas)
On an international scale ALL Colt Galants of the era used the same 8 bolt diff but only base models got the thin axles, we always seem to get the pov pack, even when fully imported. Basically, In the rest of the world Saturn cars (Galant A5 and A11 sedans, hardtops and GTOs) got the thin diff and Astron cars and all wagons (Galant A11, A12 and GTOs) got the thick.

The hardtop he got them from might have had the diff changed to a wagon diff, they are a direct swap.
All the centres are interchangeable with the only difference being larger axles, bearings and drums.

I believe so, it isn't something I have messed with, prefer just to go to disc myself, but I have heard of people swapping over to wagon drums on their sedans as they are bigger.
All this messing about you could have had a disc brake diff shortened for $600 - $1000 and you would have a stronger unit with much better braking and easier to service
:P
