EOI: gb wagon panel van?

Post by 75glnt »

hey guys... tossing up the idea of a gb panel van.. i'd love to do it, but. these things are pretty hard to come by.. so. is it worth "wrecking" it? or should I just do a gc/d one as they're more common?

im not going with the high roof from a siggy or anything. just eliminate the rear doors, plate up from where the rear door windows were. all the way to the end. but coupe seats/rails in it (if coupe rails will fit on a sedan seat? and providing I have at least 1 seat than reclines). and bob's your uncle! a 5 seat panelvan.

cheers :)

also, feel free to speak your opinion.. :)

If it has seats in the back it is a 2 door wagon not a panelvan :P

It has been done in the GC/GD shape but i think it could be cooler if the rear windows were blocked out.
Not the wagon window but the back seat passengers windows.
And then take out the back seat, put in a matress and you've got yourself a "shagin wagon"

Haha.. I was thinking of going 2 seater, make a love heart arch way, mirror on the roof, crush velvet (red) and a mattress. Airbrush "the love bus" on the side Mitch some sort of mural. Lol :P if its legal, I'll plate the rear hatch as well. And airbrush it instead :P something like a pic of it on a mountain in the moonlight with "the love bus in yellow script" haha :P

i like this idea mate, i think it would look really sweet with the rear doors welded up and the 3 side rear windows plated up, would look realy good, iv all so had the idea of an l200 4x4 with a hitop sigma wagon on its chassis, but change the front end over to the l200, be sorta like what toyota done with the 4 runner, thats what i think any ways lol

I really like the white, breaks up the green perfectly.
I think you would need to use frames and maybe get a custom window made, flat glass is pretty cheap to get made.

The pillarless/frameless windows are going to be a nightmare to make work. You'd need to cut up a coupe and do some extensive metal fabrication, maybe shorten the wheel base in the process and remove the gutters (o.k. if you find a pig of a coupe that's too far gone or been badly rear ended). Flat glass won't work, it needs to follow the door profile or it won't wind back into a door... The perfectly flat cargo area on your mock up is mental, if you could get this rolling it will really get noticed. If you want a bit of inspiration look up Tubby's panel van build.

yea ive read the siggy van:) looks mean :D I think id just go with the 4 door front doors and welded rears. a lot easier! instead of going for the torsion and beam test and extensive and expensive mods for the 2 door length doors! just be easier to weld the rears and keep it at the 4 door length.. but yea. it would certainly turn some heads! might get a few "nice escort/Gemini van bro" remarks :P but what about changing the green to my orange? still with the white? I reckon that would be cool? also with white centres?

yea once I find a full version free cs6 photoshop for my windows 8 64 bit (nudge nudge :P ) I will do one for ya :) and id do a full custom interior from mdf. start with cardboard (that really thin stuff that cake boxes are made of..?). cut it all to shape. then theyre the templates. cover the mdf with whatever you like. then screw in place with either the same fixings the original ones are made of. the screw and countersunk washer. or do something different? like newer clip on door skins? the plastic clips that push into drilled holes.

may be a little off topic, but since suggestions of bubble windows have been made, and a "love heart archway" i thought you guys might find this build to be interesting, not a Galant/sigma ect. but very cool, anybody that follows street machine may know of this car and its owner
