Just a bit of an update:
This happened over the weekend
Image

Image

A bit of green trimming from last night (the smart fibreglasser's grinding)

And today.

A small celebration of home made parts with one of my home made beers.

The down side is I have a few more repairs to do to the mold (such is life), but I'm pretty happy overall.
No.1 is flexible without having too much movement.
Now all I've got to do is trim it to shape.Other then that, it only needs minor work here and there (bugger all really), and it's ready for paint

Trimmed.

I hope this gives a good enough indication of what the finished product will look like. I personally think it will look better in body colour.

Hmm, I think the black finish doesn't look that far out of place at all. Has the old school 'race heritage' look to it. Nice work Dave, you have done a stellar job on these front air dams.

I've had to get stuck into some of the jobs I neglected whilst I was making this so I haven't made anymore then the first one (been working a heap of overtime too which doesn't help either).

The way I'll go about making them is one at a time, and as each one becomes available I'll only make another when I sell the one before (that way I don't have a heap of them sitting in my garage taking up room that may or may not sell).
I'm still to confirm costs (I think I can change my production technique to cut the time factor down, and I need to work out actual quantities of materials used before I can calculate the price it actually costs me to produce them).

I should be starting to make some extra ones very soon though, thanks for asking mic_77.

I'd be interested in one for sure. I've been looking for something like that for my colt.

Thanks.
And I wish I could do some of the stuff you do Mick.

Here's some more angles that I took of it.

There would be a fair bit of work to customise this to fit a Colt.
You do of course realise I made a complete front apron bolt on replacement panel with the front spoiler as part of it.

You have me wondering though what would fit a Colt (even what I've made here perhaps, but obviously cut down). My Brother in law has a Colt atm, maybe you might have just motivated me to make a visit and make some measurements. I also have an unmodified Mk1 Golf front lip here (what I was planning to fit to my wagon, but decided it just wasn't what I wanted to do), if it fits without to much modding, I would be happy to sell it to you (I could probably even mod it to fit if you needed me to, I've modded one before).
This is one the same (after it's been modded to fit a Galant).

That VW one looks pretty good. What kinda $$$ are we talking for you to mod one to fit a colt?

I'll have to take it over to my bro-in-laws house so I can see how much it needs to be modded.
It could be less work then I'm thinking.
