That would be a shorter list but people are always asking about wheels they have seen on eBay and will they fit.
I just thought a bigger list will answer these questions and help people understand if they will need spacers or not and what size

The last number, after the PCD measurement is not the offset, it is the centre hole size. For example the wheels off a 79-82 Supra/Celica have center hole diameter of 60.1mm and an offset of around +20mm. To fit these on the Galant you have to enlarge the centre hole to 67.1mm.

For example, daewoo matiz... these rims are smaller than stock galant rims (155 tyres i think) and are the completely wrong offset... why would you want that in the list????

Someone with a Matiz might just happen to look on this site, see this post, and decide to put Galant rims on their Matiz.

But seriously, I don't have a problem with other things being listed, even if no one would be interested in using the wheels. It just shows what is interchangeable.

I'm pretty sure a bunch of the cars in the list are not even available in Australia!

Members on the site are from all over not just Australia. So the models that mean nothing to Australians may mean something to them.

NO RIM that suits a matiz will suit a galant. Just cos the PCD is the same dosnt mean it should be on the list.

Any rim with a offset greater than about +30 to +35 is a massive no go on any sigma or galant.

You can easily buy anything from a 3mm slip on up to 25mm (and bigger) bolt on spacers..

This is a daewoo matiz -

Now it comes with a 155/65 R13 an has a offset of around +45, 3cly 800cc an it has the gaurds to match the power.

You tell me there is a rim that goes on that either geniune (4.5" wide) or aftermarket that will be even HALF appropriate for a galant.

Every one of the wheels in the link above suit the Matiz, and with a 10 or maybe 15mm spacer will fit any RWD Galant.

Those wheels have nothing to do with a Matiz... would be very lucky to fit them on a matiz due to the width anyways...

If your buying new wheels why on earth would you buy +40 offset??
Spacers are illegal for road anyways...

For a 6" rim you need around a 20-25+ offset sigma turbo wherrits are +25 i think and they fit up well
For a 7" rim you need around a 10-20+ offset


A 6.5" rim with a +40 will be epic fail and most likely hit the strut at the front and rub on just about everything...

Galant_GTO - great idea, but was the idea of this list to show what rims will fit onto a galant?
just understand that there are a number of factors other than stud pattern that matter when fitting wheels - for example like what has been stated - offset (because spacers are illegal in some places) - diameter/width (no point having a thinner than stock wheel replacement ;) ) - and centre hole size - as dwlee stated.

so you may wish to revise this list as some of the wheels arent appropriate for Galants.

i think that list was really pointless(sorry) but its one of those misinformative wheel charts that gets chucked around when some person is trying to buy wheels online.
why not measure the offset of a standard galant rim?

get random members to measure the offset of mags on their galants and post this up as a min and max offset that will fit. but really all i can see is the thread should be locked unless we can do something like this?

Well, I think this thread is positive, because we can make this from it.

Can we turn it into a how to measure offset, and what is offset?
Then that list can be shown to show that there are cars with the same stud pattern but different offsets. So it could teach what should and shouldn't be bought.

to measure offset:

measure the rim width bead to bead

half it

poke the tape measure in the back of the wheel with the half measurement and the distance from the hub to you measurement is the offset.

+ is the closer the center is to the outside of the rim
- is the closer the center is to the back of the rim.

????? This this a joke? I cant even fit stock galant wheel on mine anyway as i run sigma brakes up front an a scorp diff in the rear anyways, im fairly certain most people on this forum would have sigma brakes on their galants anyways.

Obviously as wheels get wider you need to have less positive offset to get the rim further from the strut... The wider you go an the wider the rim the more likely you will need to pump the gaurds to fit. Then things like tyre width, ride height and camber angle for the front come into play.


Here are some example that I have that work

15x6.5" Performance wheels (they look like a BBS replica sorta) Obviously 114.3x4 with a 26+ offset - they sit well on a standard galant almost perfect an thats with either a 195 or 205 tyre.

13x7 Hotwires an i just measured the offset to be about +10 - these fit NICE an fat - about as wide as you can get on the front of a galant without scrubbing the tyre, depending on your ride height - i run 2.5 degree of neg camber on the front which helps they tyres fit under the guards at about 2.5" lower than standard. My rear end has pumped gaurds but i also have extra width from the scorp diff so it should not be a issue with standard diff - 205/60 tyres.

Grrr edited post! I now drive a 4wd HG VR4...which is a galant...but yes common sence is required here. If you have a rwd, go for wheels of a rwd car. Fwd and 4wd model offsets should work on both types of cars. Most of these wheels will bolt onto HG and HH galants. Shit even my sigma wheels bolt onto the vr4 with no dramas what so ever. I have updated the above list to mark up the fwd and rwd cars and that might be more useful. Some american cars I have no idea on the drive, but you wont be getting wheels for these cars here in au anyway.

This section of the forum is for old school rwd galants. We give no care for FWD lol. Just to show I'm not biased I have owned a HJ Galant previously.

FWD cars have sooooo many cheap and available wheel choices... our rwd galants do not so lets keep the information relevant here.
