front strut brace
Re: front strut brace
I roughly measured my various galants and the gc coupe and gb sedan appear to be about 815 and the gd sedan is about 820 between the inner bolts. I would have measure it properly without any air filters but i think if there was 20mm to 30mm of adjustment it would be all fine to fit all the galants. Could even look at making it suitable for the ge-gh sigma's too. Don't know what their width would be like though. Although don't know if there is a difference with bonnet clearance with the GA-GB or GC-GD.
Hey Stealth. What kinda price would we expect for the strut brace?

Re: front strut brace
yeh even if you made the brace with adjustable bolts on each end like a tie rod, then you could make one size fita all. one end have a RH thread, other have a LH thread, bolt it on and turn the hollow tube itself to extend the brack to fit, then tighten and maybe a little tack welt on the thread to hold? just like wheel allignment but different ahah - then again looks bodgy with threads on each end hey..
just thinkin if people have a slightly twited chassis (like my sedan after hitting a trench) then there might me slight varients in width between strut towers?
yeh and price? +1 for stainless?

Re: front strut brace
its all well and good for ppl to jump on the bandwagon and say yeah i will get one
but who will actually commit to it come crunch time?
like the turbo manifolds, heaps wanted them, but who has actually brought one?
i know i have, anyone else?
stealth is a fucken top bloke, i cant praise him enough. He has basically bent over backwards to help me out, and look after me with the price of the gear - and the guy is a complete stranger... you just dont get service like that these days. Who else that lives 4000k away is just gonna send you a manifold to see if it fits, before he finishes it? No one really, they would make it, send it, if it didnt fit/clear they wouldnt give a fuck.
and im sure he dont like being fucked around.. the more it happens, the sooner he pulls the pin on making shit for you lot, then its back to square 1 with having nothin hi-po "on the shelf" for an astron, and paying top dollar for someone else to mod/custom make stuff
same goes for the site stickers. Cos he is a good bloke shaun (kodos) pays for the bulk order out of his own pocket, so he is down $$ straight away and then gets stuck with a heap of stickers, and out of pocket cos ppl talk shit and dont buy stuff
sorry for the lecture, but think about it hey
** add a strut brace to my account when ya make em mate

Well said Brett.
Hmm, Well if your all up for making them Stealth, saves us the effort of getting a jig set up, so you can count me in for one.
Cheers,
Nick.

Re: front strut brace
I actually figured i would get cheaterparts to make me one.
As for measuring, il measure up tomorrow, i have a GC and GB sedan.
Personally i think there is a fair chance they will be different.

Re: front strut brace
sounds excellent stealth.
your average strut brace for a car with plenty of aftermarket parts (like a silvia etc) are around that price,
so a custom job for that price is fantastic.
cheers,
Dean.

I have just read through this thread and I would be keen on a strut brace, absolutely.
EVL076, as always I agree, same thing has now happened to shuggy, heaps of people interested but no one pays.
Anyway, if needed stealth I can send you a strut top on a courier tomorrow if need be. Let me know
Cheers
Jason

Re: front strut brace
Stealth. what's the chances of throwing another order in for my wagon?
I could get mine sent with Deans (77galantv6), and pick it up from his place.
Then both my cars would have strut braces..... sweet as.
Dave.

Nice one Stealth, as dvsfin said, I am looking forward to seeing how great you make them look. Any firm ideas on the finish? Chrome? Powder coat? Or bare and we can finish them how we want?

Take how ever long you need.
I'd be glad just to get one at all.
How many is that now that you've been asked to make?
