1978 sigma scorpion coupe model GE8 P29 looking for home
I'm actually a morris8 owner, but have been approached by a 90+ yo lady who wants to dispose of her dec'd husbands Scorpion. Car hasn't been started for a couple of years, one owner, 126,500 kms, lovely interior and as far as I could see body in great condition - has slight damage to a rear trim! The car is located in Doncaster Victoria, and is still registered. Anyone interested please? I would appreciate any guidance/offers/advice.

Would there be any chance of getting some pics of the car?
Pictures always raise interest.
But by the sounds, this sounds like something worth getting hold of?
Do you know if the car is auto or manual?
BTW thanks for getting on the site and letting us know.
I for one, really appreciate people doing this.

Thanks 75wagon, It's an auto, leather seats, airconditioner, alloy wheels etc. Colour is Sienna. I'll make an appointment to take photos. I've only seen a bit at a time, as it's covered, and has a 75 yo boat along one side (we're buying the chris craft!).

I have uploaded photos of the car at http://s1169.photobucket.com/albums/r513/Joycesigma/
or as per instructions -
The owner - Joyce - tells me she is keen to get $3000 for the car. I notice that it is registered until 7/13.
The sticky tape is to hold the trims on.

May be shooting a bit high on the price, may have to rethink that in order to sell.
There have been a few around for sale lately .
It does look original and unmolested.

i think 2.5 to 3k is fair for someone looking for one in this condition (if it is as good as it looks).
Personally I would much rather pay 3K up front for a good one than say 1.5K for something that needed some kind of panel and paint work. It's far cheaper and less hassle in the long run.

Thanks very much David for putting up the pics of the car
But I can't remember the last time I saw a GE, and this one is sooo clean
It is a shame that the vinyl on the steering wheel has let go?
If you want to spend less spend more, this (well from the pics) looks like a perfect car for someone to get hold of for a very tidy weekend car.
Sad fact is, probably no one will want to shell out the coin required to get it.
So as per usual the lady who owns it will drop the price, and then someone who wants a cheap daily driver will buy it. Then smoke in it, smash it, and put bags of concrete in the boot and ruin it.
Someone please see the potential in this and buy it, and save it from going to waste.

I find it amusing that people will spend thousands and thousands on motors etc.. but don't seem to want spend a few on a decent shell to put them in.ddt wrote:i think 2.5 to 3k is fair for someone looking for one in this condition (if it is as good as it looks).

I'll check with the owner (Joyce) in a couple of days and give her all the news. One thing that is relevant - there is a refund of 10 months rego and 3rd party that would go to the buyer. Unless Joyce has claimed a pensioner concession (unlikely, as she drives an ancient Honda 2 speed auto) that would come to around $550-$600,

I have been in contact with Joyce an she advises she sold the car on Friday 7/9/12 - didn't tell me the price, but I know she knocked back an offer of $2200, so I guess she must have been happy with the offer she received.
