Did you they give you over sized brake shoes? They may need to be ground down to fit... Option 2- have you wound the adjusters all the way in. It's an easy enough mistake to make. Think we've all done at least once.

So the drum wont go over them for what reason exactly?
The drums diameter is too big?
or
The drums are too thick?

Or what?

BTW, you do have the handbrake off don't you?

I think you would be better sanding/machining the shoes than the drum

Sorry I just re-read this, what I meant to say was are the Brake shoes to thick to allow the brake drum to go fully on?

Are the pistons retracted in the wheel cylinders?

This has happened to me before - I just got a rasp and filed down the shoes till they fit.... Give them time to bed in.
Check the drums dont have a lip forming on them first - getting that machined out may save you the trouble.
Not much fun but....

Yup, check that for sure.

Replaced the shoes on my lancer a couple months back and even they took some persuasion to get the drum back on.
from memory I noticed that the mounts weren't the same & took some grinding to make it sit in the same spot - so even if the out side all looks the same, measure the mounting points and make sure they do indeed sit in the same spot
