1600 to 1800!!!

Post by ahmdmaher123 »

Hi everyone :)

i have the 1978 galant sigma with 1600 engine, i'm about to add 1800 pistons to this engine & was wondering if i would need to change anything else like headers or connecting rods or if it's goin to face any problem as pistons striking valves or lowering HP

+ can anyone give me details about this engine (HP,torque,...etc) it's an inline 4 cylinder 8-valve SOHC 1.6 liter engine with a 4 speed manual gearbox :\ :\ :\

youd have to bore the engine from 76.9mm to 80.6mm, nearly 4mm.. ive never done it but reliability would have to go down?

have you thought of finding a 2600cc engine?
"launching missiles? who do they think i am? iraq? where would i get a missile from?" "that means rocks too dumbaass" "oh"

hi again

sry for the late answer :$ :$ my pc was broke... :( :(

about that...well i'm from Egypt & it's not that easy to find an engine like that + it coats waaaaay too much
the most common Mitsubishi here is the lancer

i have to ask if the ECI system of any lancer could fit in the galant

Cheers :D

your 1600 is a 4g32, completey different engine to the 4g62 or 4g63

a 4g62 (1.8L) or a 4g63 (2.0L) engine will bolt up to your gearbox, and you can get engine mounts from a rwd that uses the same motor.
problems will be with clearances for the thermostat housing and possibly the CAS that are now on the back of the head closest to the firewall,
you also need to cut and weld the throttlebody flange to the other side of the manifold cos it too faces the wrong way now
if you are electronically inclined you might be able to get a copy of both vehicles wiring diagrams and wire up the ECU for the lancer motor yourself.

http://projectzerog.com/ is a website dedicated to rwd 4g63 conversions... ALOT of info there

cheers,
rob
