Sigma Steering vagueness

Post by ddt »

Does anyone know how to fix the sigma's famous vague steering feel when going in a straight line? (GE and maybe GH?)
Wondering about toe-in/toe-out settings and whether those that have lowered their sigmas have noticed any changes?

I don't know if you have already done this but have you tighten the steering box?
This is probably one of the most common causes of steering "vagueness".

Most have never been tightened from when they were shipped from the factory.

Years of wear and tear, especially around the center position will make steering in a straight line a bit difficult.
It's a bit like CV joints wearing in the center because that is where they are moving the most.

You can make up Roll center adjusters, which is basically a spacer for the strut, between the bottom of the strut and the ball-joint plate.
This corrects the camber/caster if you have lowered your car. Toe-in/toe-out shouldn't be greatly affected by lowering the car.

Just a thought..

Cheers.

gn sigma do it too also tire pressures will affect steering fell as well. a ruff rule of thumb to tell if wheel alignment is out is to rub your hand over the tire at the edge of the tread if it grabs one way or one side of the tire more than the other it could be out also if one tire worn more than the other is a sign of uneven tire pressures or incorrect steering alignment. it is best to shell out the 60 bucks and get it done by a suspension specialist
this car is all motor real motors don't need forced induction or nitrous and there's no substitute for cubes.
