I haven't ever heard of people chroming their pepper pots due to the fact that the aluminium can be polished up to a mirror finish with a bit of elbow grease. Wouldn't mind knowing how much chroming would be but I would think it'd be a fair bit more than polishing. Although it means you wouldn't have to get the specific expensive clear coat to protect the surface or have to re polish again.

I spoke to a chrome plater at a car show a week or so ago. he reckons polish them then chrome plate them. The better the base the better the chrome plate comes out. Mine are aready polished but have some gutter rash that needs repairing first. Chrome plated wheels will be easier to look after once its done.

Chrome on ally seems like an idea, but get a load of the oxide. It will lift the chrome plating in a sheet if it gets damaged, and the electrolytic reaction between the chrome and alloy will hasten it...

No. 1 son thought my Pepper Pots were chromed. Wrong. They's not. They're just polished.
But: They corrode at the beach! It's the salt. Clear coating'm would be a good idea
I give mine a spray with WD40 if I'm going anywhere near the water.
