Got magna injection gear. What Injectors should I use? help?

Post by smacktart »

To start I have a sigma turbo carby converting to injected

hey went to wreckers yesterday got all the injection gear was only $50. Throttle body is getting modified tomorrow!

Should I use bigger injectors then standard ones. I want to run around 13-15 Psi.

Do I have to shorten the injection manifold? or will it not hit the bonnet?

Already have magna head on.

Think im going to run a haltech sprint 500 computer and run a surge tank with a bosch 044 fuel pump? Is this ok?'

Anything else I need to know or parts I need to get?

what year is it? the TN/TP manifold wont hit the bonnet, and the TR/TS will come close but should clear depending how you put the throttle body on.

you WILL need larger injectors, the std ones are very small. i used Nissan CA18DET injectors and they maxxed out at 18PSI, so they will suit you fine, or get some after market or VR4 440cc injectors

Can I use 550cc Rx7 injectors there are 4 x for sale on ebay. Does the fuel rail need modification?

One thing to check is whether the Haltech will run low impedance injectors.

Cheers.

Fuck its to hard Lol I dont know know what makes them low impedance injectors? what computers are good for low impedance injectors. had a read on Rx7 club forum and they recon you need some adaptor on the haltech sprint 500.

With High Impedance Injectors, you just give them 12v for as long as you need them open. They also require less current to operate.

With Low Impedance Injectors you need a "Peak - Hold" setup.
12v to initially open the injector but then drop to 8-9 volts to hold them open.
If you just kept the injector at 12 volt you would burn it out and most probably the injector drivers in the Haltech.

Low impedance injectors open a lot quicker than High impedance ones, which allows you to run a larger injector and still have good control of the idle fuel mix.

Cheers.

So Rx7 550cc are Low Impedance Injector?

if so then what is a good computer to use with Low Impedance Injectors?

you can use the RX7 injectors.
you can use a resistor block to raise the impedance if need be, it is not 100% ideal as the injector dead time can change slightly, but it will be fine in our application

other alternative is to run the bosch 968 42lb injector , correct impedence, oring size , all you need to do is cut a groove for the injector rail clip, tuff car parts in melb do reco for 200 plus postage for 4

Will the 42lb/hr injectors be enough for around 15psi?

Are these high impedance injectors able to handle an extra 15-20psi in fuel pressure, ABOVE their normal rating?
Using a rising rate fuel pressure regulator is a must for a EFI turbo setup.
This increases the fuel pressure to compensate for the increased air pressure in the manifold.
At higher boost, SOME high impedance injectors will fail to open because the extra fuel pressure will also hold the injector needle closed.
This will cause the Air Fuel mix to lean out, which will kill the engine.

Definitely something to check.

Cheers.
