Sigma turbo bonnet vent Measurements

Post by sikmaturbo257 »

Hi Guys i am currently get my sigma turbo number 257 restored, at some stage it has had a front end accident and the bonnet replaced with a standard gh bonnet

anyway i need to find out where the bonnet vents are meant to be located.

if anyone that has a gh turbo could you do me a favour and measure from the side of the bonnet to the vent cut out and also from the rear of the bonnet to the vent cut out and let me no.

would be greatly appreciated as i dont want the bonnet vents to be in a "looks right" possition on the bonnet.

cheers lads

Hey sikma, I just had to do the same. My Bonnet on #47 was stuffed as well, but I did my measurements on the hole and not where the vents sat. The problem is now that the vents are fitted I can't give u the hole measurements, but only where the vents are sitting now. Because I measured on the top of the bonnet when I transferred the vents over. And now the vents are fitted it's not very accurate to tell you where the hole is. (also I left a bit more Bonnet structure in place to stop the vents bouncing up and down.)

Anyway from the bonnet edge to the vent on the top side of bonnet is 360mm and from the back edge is 145mm.

I tried to attach photos but photo bucket is being a pain.

Bloody nice work Leigh! I have the same problem with my sig - non standard bonnet but luckily I found a genuine siggy turbo bonnet a couple of years ago so that will get used. Pity it's silver! Top work with the measurements and drawings - I daresay I will come back to this thread at some point in the future!

Back in the day I just used really thin rubber as the gasket on my GE wagon. The vents looked good and sealed nicely. The only thing I would have done differently is found a bonnet that the vents didn't cut through the inner skin. I think some models of SE have a bonnet with a flat section ready to cut......
