Will a built 2.6 spool a T70 turbo?

Post by Chris21 »

Hey guys

Recently picked up a T70 turbo A/R 70 with a 1.06 rear housing very cheaply, I'm wondering now if I built a 2.6l engine with all forged internals, EFI, etc, would the turbo be an ok size or is it to big? I don't mind if its a lag monster, I'll get pics up in a bit

dont know if theis is any relevance, but on a turboed siggie i bought a few years back, it had a huigh turbo on it with an
AR of 1.06 too. hit 4500RPM and was on 7 PSI only with the wastegatel locked shut. didn't want to give it more than that as it was running like shit cas it wasn't tuned.

my stock 2.6 spooled a t04b with a 1.06..
didnt get on boost until 3800 or so, but it hit hard and fast..

your t70 looks cheap and chinese to me, u sure you wanna risk your "built" engine?
some of these turbos come with free compressor blades for your intercooler...........

You can always put an intercooler filter. It helps promote pressure drop to your intake.

Yeah its a cheapo chinese turbo, You make a good point with it destroying the engine. I haven't built an engine yet I just assumed that I would need a built one to spool a turbo this big, but I might give it a go on the stock engine if there is a chance it will work

does anyone know where to get a turbo manifold in south brissy? :banh:
mate pm me and we will talk ! :blah:
as for t70 it will spool but your gunna need a decent tuned length turbo manifold
and a front mount as it wont fit on a siggy turbo std manifold, so custom job
you need a t4 open foot tuned length front mount exturnal gate ,and possibly
using 1/1/4 pipe instead of 1/1/2
hope this helps

fare enough billsy i didnt relise that as in a lancer there no
hood clearance and i can just close the bonnet with a 1.06
rear housing (it torches the paint to!) so i cant fit a spacer
and the t70 wouldnt clear my brake master either
but laner's are way smaller than sigi and galant
but still it will boost late due to uneven port lengths and huge
weight of the turbine ,just a thought

my 1.15 rear housing gets up on the siggy motor. Its like they say though laggy till 3500 then comes on hard.

I have yet to replace it with a gt35r. My next rear housing will be in the 0.86 range for sure. The turbo i run was always meant to be temporary and it very much is, but it certainly answers your question, yes it will spool it. Its just at what point you want your boost coming on and how hard.

Fatory turbo's with 1.06 rear t4 get up at 2000rpm dont they when in efi setup???
