found to be 2lt blessing in disguise perhaps.

Post by sigtool »

i have been rebuilding my engine slowly for a fair while and today i did some mesurements for CR and first stroke was wrong, thought maybe 2lt crank then bore is wrong WAIT ITS 2LT WTF?
now this engine has an astron II head BUT IS 2LT
I always thought it was a 2.6 because of the rocker cover.
AND spent hours going through old forums to find engine number codes and my block is factory turbo YAY (car is factory turbo)
ISSUES
head is wrong and very strange there is no 2lt astron II
some pics of the block
far as i know turbo had flat top pistons with a notch out on the inlet side for valve clearance.

engine in one piece
the question is can you put a 2.6 head onto a 2lt??
the head has been modified to suit the manifold there are welds on the studs

im really not sure about the whole thing if anyone could shed some light that would be great.

cheers

It would seem that you have a 2.0L Astron I turbo block & inlet manifold, but some one has fitted a modified Astron II head & rocker cover to it. Never seen that done before as its not easy to graft an A1 manifold onto an A2 head. ;)
I'm here for a good time, not a long time !
