Turbo Oil Lines and Manifols Q's

Post by DrLui »

Hi all

I have a 1985 NB 2.6 4g54 Pajero running a 1988 TN Magna EFI (standard) setup. Over the 2 weeks i get off at Christmas i am going to be installing a MegaSquirt II, and prepare for turbocharging it.

I have got everything sorted apart from the exhaust manifold and the turbo oil lines.

For the manifold i am going to import a Starion 2.6L turbo manifold and i have 2 options
1) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mitsubishi-Star ... es&vxp=mtr
2) http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/pr ... o+Manifold

I think i am going to go for (2)

Now the turbo lines. I am going to run the pickup from the oil pressure sensor with a T piece, but i don't know where to run the return line. Ive been told that the return line has to be gravity fed so it has to be low and most people take it to the oil sump. What is the best way to put it on the oil sump? Drill and tap, or Weld?

Regards
Luis

Yes, 2 - Cast mani for the win.

For the oil feed - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WORKS-OIL-TE ... 1c1f95913e - similar to what the sigma turbos use.

Return to the sump as high as possible (above the oil level) and inline with crank bearing caps. 2nd one most of the time. If you have it inline with the rods, oil may get pushed up the pipe - One of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DIY-Turbo-Oi ... 3f106297fe or a weld on.

I welded a pipe to the oil pan within 2 inches of top. Are you going to run an oil cooler or anything?

I recently converted a mightymax /D50 to turbo.
