The WRC is bullshit the Acropolis Rally is a joke

Post by boyracer »

The WRC is shit they have three days of competitives/stages about seven stages each, at the begining of each day the leader starts
first car on the road, the driver leading the championship starts first on day one and just about every Seb, Mikko and Jari-Matti slows
down so not to be leading at the end of day one so all importantly they are not first on the road at the begining of day two forcing the
leading car can sweep the roads/stages which gives the following cars faster/better stage times, yes in the WRC it is true that the
best driver does not necessarily win they are all engaged in phoney rally. The WRC is quite regulated and alot of talk has been had
about the strategies employed by drivers and teams and what they are going to do about it. Interesting times only worth watching
and following for the masterful driving etc the end result is a joke.

Mitsubishi chose not to sponsor a team car so they could focus on other projects, maybe origami or making air conditioners... they either got bored with flogging their competition or wanted to win fair and square without these BULLSHIT TACTICS!

Rallying has always been a team sport, and tactics have always played a big part .... even back in the sixties. It's not, never has been, and hopefully never will be all about just the drivers.

It's about the best TEAM effort (driver, co-driver, car, preparation, tactics, etc), not finding the "best" or fastest driver ..... and that's exactly how it should be, and makes rallying different from most other forms of motorsport. If a team uses the rules to their advantage better than the next guy, then good on them.

That said, I don't particularly like the the whole blatant "slowing down for road position" thing either - good thing they are changing the rules next year to prevent it being so obvious (although smart crews will still find ways to improve their road position when they think it's appropriate ... nothing wrong with that).

At the end of the day though, I don't think it makes a significant difference to the outcome of individual events, or the championship.

More likely they got bored with being flogged by the competition, or couldn't afford the "arms race" ... the Mitsubishi team hadn't been competitive in the WRC for years before they pulled out.

Yep, pretty much.
As soon as Tommi Makinen stopped driving for them both he and Mitsubishi seemed to fade into the background a bit. Their last competitive car was the Evo 6.5, it was after that the shorter wheelbase cars started to lead the field.

Yep, he set the benchmark back in the day... Tommi and his team car is what cemented me as a die hard mitsu fan.

I think what they need to do is give points for each day such 8 points for the winner of each day, 6 for second and so on.
