Speedo delay?

Post by SpEc_OpS »

Hi all yesterday i took my gfs speedo apart because the trip meter button was stuck when i put it back in the speedo doesnt move from 0 till your doing about 20-30 km/h and maintains as if ur doing 20-30 less eg if ur doing wat i think was 60km/h its says ur doin round 35 km/h.

Any ideas on how i can fix this? its a 91 pulsar q auto 1.6 if u need any more info ask away :)

Maybe the zero reading is just misaligned?

Like when you stop the car its trying to say NEGATIVE 20-30 but the stopper at zero would make it look like it does nothing

I'd suggest having a look at the back of it to see if its adjustable

Like Chris said check the needle alignment. On alot of the speedo's I've played with the needle is just a press fit on the shaft and can be missaligned. On a camry for example when refitting the needle I push it onto the shaft pointing at 80km, then rotate the needle back to 0km, the needle slips on the shaft which should be at 0km cause your rotating it anticlockwise. Can't say if the pulsar is the same though so proceed with caution ;)
