Is there a 4 or 5 speed behind the 2ltr?

Personally, I'd try and put a Toyota engine into it. I'd look at a 4A-GE 'black top'. If you have a decent 4G52, then that would be good too. I am sure I have seen a 'rolla with a 4G54 in it, so it should be possible.

err, why? A relatively stock 16v 4AGE would go heaps better, and probably use less fuel too?
EDIT: I'm not trying to be discouraging, just pointing out that replacing a bunky old 4K with an equally bunky old Astron really doesn't make sense to me, especially when there's engines out there that would go in heaps easier and give better results

im doing it to go a different path than the usual 4AGE, 3T etc etc
and, i also already have an injected turbo 2.6, with all the whizz bang bits
only things i will need to make are engine mounts and gearbox cross member
fuel economy is no issue as far as i am concerned

fair enough, it does get a little tiring seeing the endless stream of 4AGE's, 3T's and SR20's after a while lol
