SIGMATRON

I was reading a couple of Dads old Unique Cars, when i came across the April 09 copy that Featured the SIGMATRON as its Blast from the past special.
Some people may hate the look of them.
But i think it looks great, very Group B rally car
And even in the write up it described it to similar looks as the Bathurst XD Falcon, or Brock VC-VK Commodores
And to think that in 1980 this was all pretty cutting edge stuff, especially from Mitsubishi Australia.
Im not a fan of the Interior colours, but bucket seats in the back are cool.
And i wouldnt use those Massive tail lights, or for that matter the Massive
XD-XE headlights and indicators in the front end.
And i would like to do it from a Starion to make it a Coupe, but then it wouldnt be a "SIGMATRON"
But with afew detail refinned, i think it would be very different.
Anyone want to start a new project!?

It does still exist!!
An old employee bought it and fully restored in in the last couple of years!
It still does the show circuit apparently.
Yeah unfortunately the project was cut short for some reason,
They dropped in an N/A motor, and it never went any further.
They say in the article it was more as a platform to introduce the concept, and the Idea of a Turbo 4, instead of the V8s.
And considering it was built in 1980, and the Sigma Turbo was released 1981 it worked.
Here is a pic someone else posted on this forum ages ago, cant remember who and what thread...

It was done as a concept car made by Purvis in Vic. It was at the Birdwood Motor Museum for year's. None of the vent's did anything, just there for looks.

C'mon, this is South Australia anything can be registered!
I once saw the police at the inspection centre at Regency Park give some guy some chassis stamps to give his Lotus a new chassis number because they could not find the original. They told him what new number to stamp.
Look forward to hearing and seeing more...love that car.

Give it time and somthing will happen. It was covered in dust and stuff when i got it. I gave the outside a clean and a mate cleaned the inside. Has a cover on it now and is tucked away. I have a few other thing to work on before this one even thinks about getting started.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder if Tom Walkinshaw ever saw this car and thought he could make money on it with the VL Commodore........Sigmatron would only be a few years older than a Walky
Yeah ur right.....needs a more serious powerplant
