Sigmatron?

Post by Tj. »

No, not the user with that handle, the Sigma Turbo concept car!.
Theres a 3 page article in the current UNIQUE CARS mag.

The thing looks wild!, it's based on the GE with an early development of a 2lt turbo and a huge fibreglass body kit (designed by peter arcadipane and built by alan purvis) that resembled "european group 5 touring cars" and has a rather stomach churning technicolour interior.

I've never heard of this car before, and google searches turn up nothing. It's got me kinda facinated.

Anyone have any more information??

It sounds like your talking about the sigma turbo concept which can be seen in the national motor museum in SA.

Can't find any pics of it yet, but they are out there....

but haven't seen the mag yet...

unfortunately no i dont have a scanner.

And looking at the pic of the engine bay (its awful small) it's missing its air box, looks like a standard solex and theres a weird looking plate on the side of the exhaust manifold.

I'm not too familiar with the turbo engines so i cant say convincingly what it is. I can tell its a 2lt tho. And definately a GE, or GH shell (three bolt strut top).

It's a little shabby looking too.

I hope they only made one of those. It looks like a Malaysian ricer. The designers of that car must have worked on the AU Falcon.

I worked at Mitsubishi factory and that car turned up in the engineering holding yard a year or so before we shut down. Its a right pile of junk. It had an N/A 2.0,and the body kit was as rough as. Also it was very heavy. I spoke to one of the guys involved in its build and there is as much bog as anything else in the buildup of it. It would look right at home on a european race track from the '70's.
