Eletrical stuffs

So in my GC when ever i leave reds on to listen to music and what not after a bit the ballast resistor and ignition coil get hot

Why does this happen and how do i stop it without sacrificing listen to music or petrol

The wiring to the sound system should be connected via a relay into your accessories circuit, not your ignition circuit. You will cook your coil if you leave it as is.

There should be a 3 pin plug floating in the centre of the dash for the original radio - this will have it's own fused circuit and won't cause you any issues. You'll need to isolate permanent power for the memory - use the clock circuit and run a wire off it. Problem solved :thumpsup:

i dont have a clock :( but i think its straight to battery by any chance do you have picture of these things ?

You won't have a clock but the wiring for it will still be there. It's integrated into the wiring harness behind the instrument panel. The beauty of Galants are the simplistic wiring and the fact they only used one loom for every car. Anyone got the colour coding for the clock wire? :)

Dont worry peeps ripped apart dash today and rewired it :) and the resistor and coil were colder then winter :)
