Re: Quick Question :(
uf its a 1 piece tailshaft, probably easier and cheaper to get a 2nd hand one at a wreckers.....then get it balanced up.....balancing up costs $100 (so ive been told)

Re: Quick Question :(
yea youd think the uni would have broken before the shaft itself.. as long as its not a staked/unserviceable type just go buy a new uni and swap it yourself
Re: Quick Question :(
its the actual shaft that is broken, some of it is twisted around the front uni join
Re: Quick Question :(
May I ask... What were you doing??
cheers

Re: Quick Question :(
One of the funniest things I have ever seen was a guy destroy the tailshaft in a Falcon panelvan around 10-15 years ago.
I was at work at the time and heard a guy yelling out the front. About 1/2 the street went out to see what was going on as he got in the drivers seat, started it up, revved the absolute crap out of it then dumped it in drive. Result was an almighty bang followed by parts of the driveshaft rolling out from under the car and into the gutter. He then turned it off, got out, and did the walk of shame down the street while everyone stood there laughing at it all.

Re: Quick Question :(
In all honesty, now that the tailshaft is (or at least very soon) out of the car....probably best to consider putting in a tailshaft loop.....it's obvious that the car is able to break them now...the last thing u want is to happen again..

Re: Quick Question :(
were do you suggest i find a tailshaft loop? and how does that work?
Re: Quick Question :(
eBay. It's to stop the tail shaft either 1; digging into the ground and flipping you onto your lid (if its the front of the tail shaft that's broken free). Or 2; stop the tails haft banging up your floor and doing other damage (if its the rear).Haireman wrote:were do you suggest i find a tailshaft loop? and how does that work?
Short version? Lol. Keeps it off the ground once broken

Re: Quick Question :(
All good mate any way I can help. Throw me a pm anytime.
I think there is a stronger shaft. Might be carbon or something. You could always go all out and get an engineer to carve up a billet one!! That weighs 100kg and takes 100hp from you. As well as a fist full of cash! Lol
It's a shame about the car! How bad is the damage?

Re: Quick Question :(
its like they tried to take of the back lip and failed then cracked it and hit the rear quarter with something metal, its crap coz its there still tonight
Re: Quick Question :(
a trailor costs, about $70. just grab someone with a towbar and go and get it.
your saying that $100 for a tailshaft isnt expensive, and leave your car in a dodgy area when it costs less than that to move it.
i dont get it
