What's you daily?

Post by 75wagon »

What's you daily?
Exactly what it says, what do you drive/ ride on a day to day basis to save your project from the day to day grind?

This may be because your car isn't finished yet, or you have to work/park where theft is a problem. Or your car is just to precious to use it up driving to and from work. Or your car may be so overpowered and completely impractical to drive in bumper to bumper traffic

There is no shame here, it doesn't matter what it is, tell us and post pics if possible, show us the extremes you go to to protect your ride... I actually think the more embarassing it is the better, it shows commitment and a determination to protect what you care about.

I ride a Suzuki GS500 to work and back (most days).
I bare the elements (rain/ hail/ shine) so that my Wagon doesn't get parked 200m from the beach.
I just can't bring myself to drive it and park it there everyday. Just can't stand to think of it rusting away.

While I'm on the subject, our new car parks on the drive so the wagon can be protected in the single garage that I have.

I'll get a pic of the bike and put it on soon, I don't think I actually have a single pic of it, even though I've owned it for 3 years...

she runs low 7 litres per hundred kms even when driven hard on full boost of 15PSI. fairly reliable only breaking down once every 10,000kms and has about 140FWKWS and weighs 850 kgs or something like that. 10 PSI and traction issues will still beat a manual VT commodore. so she gets up and goes.nice and fun to drive and very cheap on fuel too. I will sell her soon as i have a GTX model of the same car with a 2.0L vitara engine going in to it and painting bright orange and will drive that daily.

and here's a pic of my girlfriends daily too. same car. just slow and no fun turbo. i'm working on the turbo issue with her though haha. custom paint job worth $6000 to $7000. photos really dont do it justice what so ever. pink in day light. purple at night. and a photo of my girl modeling for the suzitech calendar :)

Never too many pics for me, and your lady friend is a fine looking woman  you can put up more if you like...

I think cheaterparts wins so far though, only having to walk 15 steps to get to work  Got a photo on your shoes?

The car was my daily... in between little upgrades and changes every now and then. (despite how unroadworthy some of them were :P)

But then after 2 big ends, a mainshaft and a dicintegrated clutch I decided I need something else. Always wanted a bike, and am now legally able to get one, so since June last year its all I've used

And you'll see elsewhere I'm trying to sell the car, as I just cant do anything with it atm, but in 6 months I'm moving to melbourne where I plan to get another scorp (already found one within the family... utterly PERFECT condition.. owned by dad's gf's mum who bought it new back in the late 70's)

These pictures were taken climbing up Mt Glorious in north west Brisbane.. First is from Icon Photos, next 2 are HDImageTank.
They sat on the side of the road photographing every bike to go past, hoping someone will pay to get the photo printed out :P

You'll note the luggage rack and pannier bags too
It has enough storage for me to take my own bed with me in the form of a swag, and enough clothes to last 2 weeks without washing

PS: before someone asks, no the front brakes are NOT drums, they are "inboard ventillated discs"

Mine own two legs at the moment. At least until I get my bike fixed and a licence to ride it :P
The bike's a 1978 Suzuki GS550E, bored to ~580 with GSX750S carbs
it needs tyres, four coils, leads, plugs and a re-wire wouldn't hurt given it's been in the shed for 10 years lol

Yeah cheater wins on the travel to work bit, I had to get cheuffered in a 300C then a ride on the Cessna Citation corporate jet! Wish it was only 15 steps.

At home I've got a 60 Series cruiser (best thing ever for hauling a car trailer) and an 84 auto Scorpion, driven mostly by the mrs. The project car is an 84 manual scorpion.

The scorp is my daily driver, I figure whats the point in having it if your gonna put it in the shed and be precious with it. plus there is NOTHING better than driving down grand junction road on a 45 degree day and seeing people in new cars sitting on the side of the road with their bonnet up dieing from heat exhaution, while my 30 year old car cruises past looking the shit with the air con on.
