Re: magna efi with a turbo
if you run the std computer over about 2 psi it starts to lean out. i wouldnt run it and risk destroying the engine. neither the AFM or the injectors have the capacity to work on a boosted engine. not to mention the ecu tune is preset and wont have any boost retard, further shortening the life of yo...

Re: Astron running lean
do you know its actually lean? as in used a wideband on it to confirm? i wouldnt go chasing maybe problems without knowing whats what. but first off check you dont have any intake manifold air leaks or vac lines disconnected as they will make it run lean and are easy to find. and second id try anoth...

Re: LPG Turbo and Other Questions
i Tig welded a 40mm pipe over the factory wastegate location and bolted a tial gate onto that.
and its easy to machine off at a later date
that lost the benefit of twin scroll as its a gap for the gasses to mix, but i wasnt running a twinscroll turbo either. so it didnt matter

Re: 1979 Datsun Scorpion
The only thing that has be worried is making an intermediate shaft from the rack to the column. i found a mazda fwd with a suitable set of uni joints that suited the rack. i had to shorten the scorp column, then machine it back and drill it so the lock bolt holds it. i then also welded it for good ...

Re: 1979 Datsun Scorpion
i wouldnt use a reducer, just fuck it off. the mitsi design is no good for drift. and the geometry goes out when you lower it. unless you want to change the pivot points and steering arm length to improve it, but i think thatll throw out the bump steer even further also. i drew it all up and had it ...

This thread just gave me a good giggle... lols at all you *now please continue :) Well with very minor work, most of an S chassis will fit into the front of the scorpion. Coilovers, lcas, knuckles, hubs, brakes. Was going to have a go at fitting an R33 crossmember and rack and pinion setup as well s...

Re: 4g32 camshaft bearings
so you mean the cam bearing surface? that gets held down by the cam caps i presume.
then just get them linished, unless its badly damaged then you get them cleaned up and you can get the caps machined down and tunnel bored as superscan mentioned to suit the cam.

i filled my astron oil pump with assembly lube when i built my engine. had oil pressure pretty quickly.
if its dry though it likely wont pick up oil at all, or atleast VERY slowly till its gears get wet. not a risk id want to take

Re: LPG Vaporizer Air Conditioner
i read it differently. as in remove (or bypass on a thermostat) the LPG evaporator and circulate water around that between it and a heatercore under the dash, that would cool instead of heat. the problem with that is the water would freeze up. an AC consdenser runs at below freezing point, so techni...

Re: Turbo: pros and cons
i ran a stock astron1 bottom end with a magna head, megasquirt and a dirty cheap ebay t3/t4. made 209kw at 18psi and did over 10000kms like that, it wasnt laggy at all with the small rear housing on the dirty turbo. but when i upped it to 21psi, and raised the redline to 7k, it decided that the 1982...

Re: sigma cams please help!!
yes you can, but not if its a roller rocker astron2. if it is youll need to change the rockers aswell.
and if you do, you must keep the cam caps with its own head as they arent interchangeable.

it may fit, but youll need to change the rockers aswell. also im not sure on the models that are effected, but ive had a cam not fit before as the collar is a different size, and i had to machine about .5mm off the cam. that could have also been a dodgy cam that was made incorrectly as it was afterm...

Re: speedo sticks randomly at 100
my old siggy used to do the same, it would stick just over 60 and would stay there till you got to about 75 before it went up.
i replaced the speedo (and the 330,000 ODO) with a newer one. problem solved

Re: High Compression 2.6L Astron.
Now for something totally different and since you are not afraid of big projects you should get your hands on a BMW s14 M3 head. This head is not far from being a bolt on to get a DOHC 4 valve engine. I have a head bolted to the G54 but other projects keep me from finishing it. Now this im sure wil...
