Re: North/south east/west swap?

Very, very short answer is yes. What's involved however, entirely depends entirely on what engine you're planning on swapping in. Astron and Sirius motors are extensively covered on these boards but that's not your only options (well, in the mitsubishi family it pretty much is but you can see where ...

Re: All Galant owners please read and respond

Parts for repairing steering boxes. My old man has used a guy to custom fabricate bits and fully recondition the steering box for his Datsun 2000 Sports which runs a similar style steering setup but it cost him somewhere around the $1000 mark :hit: Windscreens (or any glass really) for hardtops too....

Great pics! I too wish I could have made the trip. Maybe one day when the coupe is rebuilt.

BTW that Prince Gloria has to be one of the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous cars I've seen.

Re: 76 Colt Galant Coupe

Hey Jason I used the Jayracing thermostat relocation kit and I didn't have any problems with it. I had to use a half round file to take a little edge off the Welsh plug hole but apart from that it went in ok. It's fiddly and you have to chop a fair bit of of your front timing cover to make it all cl...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

I managed to pick the old warbird up from the panel shop on thursday night. It was the first time I'd seen the car since the accident. Gotta admit, it was a bit emotional towing it home. I guess seeing it (and driving it out the shop and on the trailer) just drove it home  I had a good talk wit...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

We we're always going to get it back. Shannons may not be the cheapest insurer around but they're the only ones that I know of that would give us a recovery option in the policy. Had it gone the other way it would have broken my heart to have to part it out but I would have made sure it was all goin...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

Ok so I finally have confirmation on the cars fate and it's not all bad. It's still not great though. The car has been deemed a "total loss" by the insurers as the cost of repairs was greater than the insured value as quoted by our repairer (we got to choose our own) and fortunately the in...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

Thanks for all the support and offers guys. Naomi's fine, just a little stiff and sore but mostly upset about the car. It's still at the assessors and we're sweating on a decision even though I'm fairly confident that it'll be a repairable write off (we have a recovery clause so thats far from the w...

Re: Our 1975 GC Hardtop (pic heavy and epic read!)

Shit news. Naomi's been in an accident. Someone pulled out in front of her and she couldn't pull up in time. The car is still moving under its own power and all the damage is in the guards, bonnet and radiator support panel. I was able to stick my head under it briefly and the chassis rails and the ...

All Datsun Day 2012 - Sydney - November 4th

http://datsunday.com/pics/Datsunday2012v5_050912.jpg Yes I know it's "Datsun Day" but they do allow a number of other makes in, especially closer to the date if they're trying to pull together a good number. I was at the 2010 day and there were a few rotary's and the odd toyota or two the...

Hey cool!, i'm building the same kit It's not finished yet, but I've fitted a mega huge set of Techno Racing Phantoms (a vintage Fujimi set) Took a bit of modifying to fit, and even then they don't fit properly. Re: S3 Nissan Bluebird TRX, yes a Nissan :)

Woah! The only Bluebirds I see getting around these days are usually clapped out olive green ones that have more bog and primer than OEM paint. That thing is unbelievably tidy! I have seen a VG30 V6 in one of these, no idea what sort of work that would involve though. Would make a nice sleeper cruis...

Re: 4G63 SOHC carby to DOHC Twin Webers

Displacement mainly. The '63 is a 2L motor plus your astrons were worked competition motors that would have run at wide open throttle and high rpm. I have 45s (triple) on the L28 in my zed and it goes like hell at full throttle its a pig everywhere else. Different motor but displacement per cyl is c...

Don't chop up that car. And you could turbo any number of 4cyl motors that will net you the same output with nowhere near as much fabrication. But if you must have a V8, make it one of these http://www.h1v8.com/i/350wide/home_page_engine2.jpg Hartley Enterprises H1 based on two standard Hyabusa head...

www.austarion.com have heaps of info on converting their SOHC '63's to twincam (turbo'd obviously) as for the webbers though you're kind of in new territory there. But nothing's impossible  I think 45mm webbers might be a little more appropriate and there's a few other twin choke side drau...

Mine is doing the same thing and replacements are impossible to get. I have a set of sedan actuators that I've been meaning to cannibalise to fix mine. They're completely different parts but I reckon that the small gear on the shaft that the winder handle attaches to would be similar enough to work....

If you're feeling brave you might be able to gently pick out the coloured resin from the badge. Underneath it should be chromed plastic with a wave sort of patern. I did this with the side vents on my coupe, partly because chunks of the resin had fallen out already. I left mine chrome (which looks s...

I have a similar set of ZG flares waiting to go on my 260Z so if you like I can try and get a shot of them on my GC if you like. Personally I Think they're way too big. The wheel arch on a Zed is huge in circumference compared to the galant. Plus they come out a long way. I think early Corolla bolt ...
