Re: Steering Wheel Lock Removal on GA Galant

Well I've done this operation twice in the last 5 days to two Sigmas I'm wrecking and getting rid of. First thing you have to do is remove the steering wheel and plastic steering column surrounds. Then remove the indicator and wiper stalk assembly. Now you should be able to see the ignition barrel m...

Re: Show me your Mitsi related, non car projects!

Very nice table! I have two spare GSR rims I'm thinking of turning into a coffee table, but I'm thinking of putting them side by side and putting a rectangular glass on top and photos next to the wheels. Also, is one of these the iron-on transfer you guys were talking about? The white Sigma one is o...

Re: Need help With Brake and suspension GH/GJ Sigma

Thanks for posting the photos, I keep reffering back to this thread to look at them to help me with my brake conversion. I found that the Sigma III caliper and strut you have there are from a GN Sigma (I have one sitting in my driveway). Two interesting things to note: 1- there is no "vent"...

Re: Are ge struts same as gh

Early model GE Sigmas were different than late model GEs. The early 77-78 GE Sigmas had green struts and small almost square brake pads, like a Galant. Later model 79-80 GE Sigmas either had black struts (without removable caliper mount bracket) with the small almost square brake pads or they had th...

Re: Sigma ll calipers on black and geen struts

Don't forget that early model GE Sigmas also had "green" struts with the removable caliper bracket, but it used the very small calipers off the later model GE Sigmas, so a Sigma II or Sigma III caliper most likely won't fit. I found this out the hard way when upgrading the brakes on my ear...

Going back to the master cylinders you have there, the early GE Sigmas also had the twin reservoir type. My GE has it and I'm looking at upgrading to the big rectangle reservoir one you have fitted to your car. I'm upgrading the master due to also upgrading the front discs from the tiny standard dis...

The Volvo S40 also came out with similar wheels, but they were 15". I did have a set of S40/V40 rims on my Hemi Orange GE Sigma a while back, they fit on the rear with 205/65R15 beefy tyres and 195/50R15 on the front for that hotrod look! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-v03xgfl2UgM/UDgvznFLhCI/AAAAAA...

The very first GE Sigmas came with a banjo type diff and Torqueflite MA904A, not a "baby 727". I know this because my May-78 GE Sigma SE has one :)

According to my workshop manual, here's the difference:

Torqueflite MA904A:

1st=2.45
2nd=1.45
3rd=1.00

Stall=2200-2650rpm

Borg Warner 35:

1st=2.39
2nd=1.45
3rd=1.00

Stall=2500-2600rpm

How useful would it be if you could test and simulate on the computer all mods you intend to do to your car/engine before you do it, or perhaps to try to get the most out of your setup? Now apparently there is a car and engine building and testing simulator game! It's called Automation. I'm already ...

Reading through some old car magazines I found that Normalair did also offer a "more power" option for the factory GH Turbo Sigmas. It basically ran a bigger turbo, more boost and lower compression with different pistons. There were also a few aftermarket businesses offering bolt-on kits a...

Re: Identifying Astron Heads

Yes, all the components are interchangeable. You may need to do a bit of port matching with your Redline manifold as it is designed to fit both the Astron 1 and 2. This means the manifold ports will be 36mm, so it will still be compatible with the Astron 1. The Redline manifold ports taper down tow...

I'm confused. The TR Magna head I have has M4 on it and has hemi chambers and roller rockers. The March 1987 GN Sigma sedan I bought yesterday has an Astron II reconditioned engine and M26 on it, but no roller rockers. Is this right?

Banjo type diff has a fixed rear part of diff centre housing and the bolts are on the tail shaft side. Borg Warner diffs have a removable lid with bolts on it on the back of the diff on the side that faces the rear of the car (opposite side to where the tail shaft bolts up). Very interesting compari...

Re: Wideblock 5 spd in a GE

It depends on what diff your GE had stock. Mine had a banjo type diff which was basically a smaller version of the Scorpion diff, so a GE or GH Scorpion diff will fit if you use all suspension arms and handbrake cable. Not sure if the diff would fit if you had a Borg Warner diff in your GE Sigma tho...
