Re: LA Lancer (Perth)

I realise it's been a while since you posted news of the damage to your LA Lancer. Did you ever get it fixed? Same thing happened to mine -- insurance gave me only $1500 and let me keep the car. I then got another LA 2-door (drove it from Hobart back to Perth) and put all the good bits in it. If you...

Re: Random Lancer pix!

Very nice steveracer, very tidy example  Are you going to start a build post to keep us updated with the build? Damn I wish the Australian models came with black interior here? We had to put up with beige/brown :@ Dave... you can paint the interior with vinyl paint -- I did the door linin...

Re: help! -- 4G32 timing belt tensioner

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I thought it wouldn't be too difficult to fix. I don't know why the RAC shop left it the way it was -- noisy!

help! -- 4G32 timing belt tensioner

Hi everyone The timing belt failed in my LA Lancer 4G32 when starting the car the other day. I decided to let a shop replace it, which they did. However, now there's an rpm-sensitive whining noise that the mechanic says is because they couldn't find a suitable belt tensioner and re-used the old one,...

Re: 4G32 Turbo???

Actually that NZ engine list has two 4G32T's - one's a 1600 and the other a 16v 2-litre! Maybe the second one is a typo? Manufacturer code: 4G 32 T/C (1.6} Year of production:: 1984 - 1988 Fuel preparation: Single-point electronical injection () Supercharging: Turbo charger Cubic capacity: 1597 No. ...

Re: 4G32 Turbo???

I suppose the 4G32T setup shown in the pic from GB_BB4C might be tricky to fit into an LA Lancer - I wonder if there would be enough room between the engine and the firewall?

That's if I ever find one...

Re: 4G32 Turbo???

Aha - I knew they existed!! I've also seen many references to them on UK and European web sites. I guess I'll just need to keep my eyes peeled for one here in Perth. Here are two pix that are supposed to be of 4G32T engines - whatya reckon? http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/295549/PICT0228.JPG ...

4G32 Turbo???

Hi everybody I asked a similar question in the Lancer forum a while back, but didn't really get the answers I was after. Does anyone know much about the 4G32T? It's supposed to be a factory turbo, and came out (apparently) in a 1980 Cordia, 1984 Lancer (125 hp!), 1980 Tredia, 84 Colt, and 87 Mirage....

Re: New to Forum

on the topic of improving what lurks under the LA's bonnet, does anyone have opinions on the 4G32T (11/83-12/85) or the 4G37 (9/86-10/90) as a swap for the 4G32 or 33? Is it relatively simple to put these motors in the LA? Having just said that the 4G32 with weber and extractors is pretty good, I wa...

Re: New to Forum

Hi Maverick! Welcome to the forum! I'm also in Perth and drive a 75 LA 2-door. I've got a 4G32 in place of the original 1400, although I also added a weber 32/36 carbie which makes a huge difference in power over the stock 1600 and very driveable around town. I also have extractors in the shed that ...
